How do you keep track of customers?

Old carbon copy paper invoice would be a good way to start.Complete the job give them 1 copy you take the other back an put it in s file and be done with it.Stack them up an call them back every year that might work.

QB online but I have always used old fashioned paper work. I tried the whole estimates with phone but wasnt digging it. I bought the invoice to go ap but I only use that for when I get online estimates and that has worked out great

Google contacts, google calender, google docs, google finance, - all synced and integrated.

When I was (much) younger, and before today's technologies existed I had every number I needed memorized (50-100). I still remembered many of those numbers well into my thirties, long after they were of no use to me any more (and before the technology took over).

The devices we use today are very helpful in our personal and business lives, but in the long run dumb us down to the point we can't function without them.

It's sad to say, but I can only recite 2 numbers from memory today and they're both mine. I have a good memory and better recall abilities, but with the ease of these devices, it pretty much makes us lazy. Sometimes the old ways are better and should be utilized more. If I had to call any family member today and didn't have my phone, I would be screwed.

Currently, I am developing my own app to use for quoting and B&A pictures. Ultimately I'll be able to transfer any information collected back and forth between my iPod Touch and PC. Actually remembering the customer and the details of the job(s) will still be on me.

When I was growing up in the family business, I also worked on cars and had to call the auto parts stores, junkyards, electric shops, etc..... so I had probably 25 or so numbers memorized, don't know any of them today. It is amazing how many phone numbers you can memorize when you call them all the time.

Quickbooks Pro and google calender here as well. I actually keep my laptop with me through the day (in my truck) and bid, print and email from it among other daily activities. I've looked into Qb online and bidding from the ipad but QB online is very limited in the flexibility and customization with regard to the quote/invoice appearance and layout. Once a job is complete I set up a reminder in google calender for the repeat work and can also do reporting on jobs by the month or year to see who's do when.

Anyway you do it there's work involved in getting back to your customer but if you can take some simple steps to make it easier down the road it's worth it.

I use QB on line, And Google calender, I don't know the difference of using the software in QB. I am however thinking of getting a mobile printer. I do find QB is easier to use on my Ipad as opposed to the mobile app on my Droid razor.
