How fast does word of mouth travel??

I just got a call from a restaurant in Old San Juan...I have not done any marketing in this area as the streets are very narrow and there is virtually zero parking. The buildings are from th late 1700's. I asked the dude how he heard of me he said from my website...I have no website....I reconed the job on a family outing today...no where to park the rig....How do I tell this guy no I cannot do the job? I will meet with him on Monday morning and I really need the job but with no access..my hands are tied. If I had a portable foamer and a small electric hot water PW I would be all over it...funds are too tight now to spend anymore cash on equipment.

Shoot I guess this post was actually multi faceted....

Just sell it and then work out the details later.

I think it might have been my comp. He has told me he won't go into Old San Juan because of parking issues. I have already reffered 2 duct repair/fan jobs to him..keep your enemy close I always say!!

You have a portable foamer, you can use a small pw to do the job. Dont be afraid of any challenge.

We hear from customers all the time that that they were told if they want their systems done right to call us. We get our biggest accounts from word of mouth, Im not sure how fast it travels though.

Our motto is when all else fails call Bryan Exhaust. You should have the same attitude.

No Parking

Not sure how dirty it is or what type of grease your dealing with, but you would be surprised how many hoods I have cleaned with hot azz chemical and the hot water hose out of the restaurant. Try scraping the crap out of it, hit it with chemical, then more chemical, soak filters and rinse with hot water, use a good brass nozel for the hose. Oh, try not to let the owner see you. First thing he will think is, hell I could have done that. Wont work on all restaurants/types or grease but does work on some. JMO

Chris forgot to mention sell it real high so you can get that portable stuff on him.

Yup sell it for a price that makes you glad you have the acct.
Then all those details just fall into place.

I was brainstorming this during my insomnia night...I think I can get one of those home cheapo Husky lectric models. and well unmount the compressor from my trailer and turn it back into "portable" unit. Thanks for all the input, I will close this deal on monday...Old San Juan is so tight with other restaurants...I could clean up on all these neglected accounts.

Thank you greasers!!!

Rent a machine and run hot water through it...Scrape and scrape some more, Than scrub it with long poles, you should beable to rinse it with easy or a garden hose.... Hopefully the job is not 50 filters and 17 hoods...

GO FOR IT!! As far a chem you can run a hot load of caustic and a garden hose from thier hot water heater can get you by in a pinch (BTDT)
If you do one down there be ready to do more. I did a Sbarro Pizza in a mall and in 2 months got the entire food court becuase I had the required insurance for the property management comapny on file allready

Have him put some parking cones up and make room for you. Parking is a issue when we make it one-There has to be a way to service the accout without going to a portable.

I rented a small electric from United Rentals once, I had to put together an adapter so I could use my hoses, it only came with 25 ft'. Ran hot water through it. It got the job done and got me four more from the same location, because the other guy had been using a water hose and not cleaning everything. I now have a small electic on hand at all times, sometimes it is easier just to use that one, or it can be used as a second PW on a job to help it move along.

This is what I recommend. It comes with a auto shut off, which is actually the weak link of the whole thing but it is a cheap easy fix. This machine just won't stop working. I didn't buy mine from the web site the link takes you to, but that price seems competitive. I also have another one I put together with spare parts I had around using a general pump with a hot water kit in it, it works also but it doesn't have the pressure the karcher does, and I have had to rebuild the pump twice. The only thing I've had to do to the karcher in two years was replace two little O rings several times, and the aforementioned auto shut off twice in three years.

Note: I don't rely on these machines as a rule, but for those places where you can't get a truck or would have to run hundreds of ft" of hose they are a good solution.

Anthony, Try T.E.M {Tipton Electric Motors} for a slightly less priced model, They put one together for me with a cart and hot packing for about 843.00, This was two years ago... I would think you could get it shipped and built for 1000.00 give or take...They are built tough, The only thing I had to do to the machine was switch out the plug, cause it had a 120 amp plug, But switched to a standard plug or 110 amp...

Tipton Electric number 563-886-3134 ask for the wash room, Than ask for John....Refer my name and Business, cause I am sure he gets alot of request.

Good Luck,

Matt
