How many feet of hose?

When I started pressure washing I only had 50' of high pressure hose. Then I moved up to using 100' then 150'. Each time I steped up to longer hoses I wondered why I didn't do it sooner. I just moved up to 200' on one hose reel and 250' on the other. My question is. What length do you guys use and does anybody use somthing like 150' of 1/2" connected to 100' of 3/8"?

I have 200' on one reel and 250' on the other reel, only because the reels will not hold more or I would go with 300' of hose until I had more jobs that needed more hose.

I know several fleet washing guys that their minimuum is 300' of hose on the reels, some have up to 500' of hose.

It is so much easier and faster with a lot of hose instead of having to stop and move the rig around.

I run 300' on each reel on my new rig. My other rig I have 1 reel with 250, the other reel 200'.

All 3/8". With my new rig at 300' of hose, I loose about 300 psi. Gauge immediately after pump is right at 3500. At the end of 300' of hose I'm hovering at 3200 psi.

Thats good info Jim, real world readings are great , I pulled those numbers off of the general pump website

http://generalpump.com/PDFs/RESOURCE INFORMATION/NozzleChart-English.PDF.

Now I would not be worried to run 17gpm with the 1/2" hose.

Jim did you measure Temp too?

Jim, thats great, the chart calls for 900! pounds of loss (8 gpm). I just switched to 1/2" hose and I can feel the difference but I never did check hose-end pressure. It feels hotter as well.

From reading that chart it stops at 8gpm for 3/8 inch hose.

What happens if you try to run 25gpm through 300 ft of 3/8 hose?

Does the world come to and end, or does the psi just keep dropping?

The world as you know it today would seize to exist. The equilibrium of balance would be in flux,...........leading to a catastrophe of gigantic proportions.

I tried to be as comical as you, making you laugh for a change. .....I suck at comedy LOL.

It just keeps dropping, wasted energy, you are making psi to loose it in the hose.

I thought it was just me but, it feels the same for me also.

We carry 250 feet on the reel all the time, have 300 ft on a plastic roll to carry on the roof when we need it. We run a pipe through the cage of the life, put the plastic spool of hose on it and pull it all the way out. We also carry 4-8 ft sections on the truck if we need it.

Very good try, oh Grasshopper. (are your too young to remember Kung Fu?)

Lets assume I need 25 gpm @ 1000 psi.
Can I get that through 300-1000 ft of 3/8 hose?
What psi machine would I have to have to make it work? 3500?

We run a striaght 200 ft of 1/2 inch double braided line. It holds up under all the line dragging we do, and all the heat we run for long periods of time.

we run different leangths at different times, usually 90% of the time we keep 300 feet on the reels, when we do shopping centers we will sometimes run 400 feet

Thanks Big Guy for that info, i sent out a bunch today, we will see. I am home tonite if you have time after 7pm give me a shout.:drag:

never a problem, I will give you a shout.

I only wish we were closer so we could wear that boat out :yes4:

We seem to be able to travel all over the country for work, but cant get together for fun..
