How many of you have a Vanity number?

Hey all,

I'm curious to know what you think about having a Vanity number for the business?

Do you? Or are you staying with a local number?

I was told to stick with a local number. My wife is looking at
1-800-20-CLEAN, so the customers remember it better.

What do you suggest?

I thought about that but stayed with a local number. I push the web address on everything! I want them at my website!!! HighTideCleaning.com
 
Those numbers are catchy, however, they sometimes irritate me when I am looking for the letters on the phone rather than the numbers. If you get one, I would put both the Vanity # and the regular number on everything.

They drive me crazy too. I saw somewheres. I think it was on one of these boards where they had tested a 800 number against a local number on bandit signs and people called the local number a whole lot more.
 
I like the idea of vanity #s never quite found one l liked though. I would recommend to everyone to grab a google voice# if you can for your business.. I have 2 that I have been playing around with for the past year, and they are pretty amazing. Im going to be fully integrating them into my business's in the next couple of months. Invites are pretty easy to get now.

How many people have regular cell phones these days? I have a blackberry - no letters on the numbers key. I can't call vanity numbers unless I have a standard phone with me, then it is not worth the trouble.

I think it is a waste since it seems that most are going the way of smart phones.

I agree....people feel more secure in calling a local number for a local service.
