I have a 3000 psi Aaladin pressure washer. I also have insurance. I am new to the business and have no idea where to start. I was given the opperutnity from my brother in law to take over the pressure washer. He is in heavy equipment and that is how he aquired the pressure washer. I was given a short 30 min tranning on the machine and told to make it work for me. If there is any advice or books/video/dvd about traning, safety, sells, pricing anything someone has to offer I would appreciate it. It currently sits in the wherehouse doing nothing. I really want to make this oppertunity work for me. I have gone to the libary and book stores and found nothing in the libary and just about the same in the book stores. This web site has been my best resource for infromation. I am a single mother and this is very important to me I hope you can understand my desire to make a run of this. Thanks

What you are planning to clean will be a big help in pointing you the right way. Are you aware of the water recovery laws that apply to pressure cleaning? Orange County is one of the most strict counties in California, if not the entire US when it comes to recovery.
This is something that you will want to take a look at and ponder before you take the plunge.
Not sure which model you have, but Alladin makes good machines.

I have a hot machine. I had no Idea about water recovery.I will look into that thank you for the information. I have been looking at curbs sidewalks something like that. Any suggestions as a direction I should take? I learn very quickly and am not opposed to hard work.

Depending on how old the kids are, will play a factor in deciding on if you want to go after residential or commercial.
Residential pays well, but is not always steady work. Commercial pays less, but is often a reoccuring account. Commercial work is generally at night.
How do you plan to cart this washer around. Is it already mounted on a trailer with a water tank and hose reels or is it a portable unit all by itself at the moment?
Do you plan to work another job while doing this, or just make this your main line?

I have only one kid and he is school age. I have someone to watch him at night if I have to work at night. I would prefer to have steady work and would like this to be my only source of income if possible. The pressure washer is trailer mounted with a water tank and has two hose reels with a hose on each. Thank you for all the input I appreciate it very much.

Well, you already have the basic equipment, and recovery does not have to be expensive, it just has to work for what you are doing. For most situations, you can get by with a sump pump and a few sand bags. Total cost with discharge hose and the pump will be around $200.00. This will get you started and you can build from there as needed.
What are you towing the trailer with? How big is your tank and so on. You want to be safe when rolling around, so lets look at what you have or want to have as a tow vehicle.
