So I have been doing a lot research on equipment, and have a pretty general idea of what I want but still need advice. We are going to start off mainly focusing on residential (house wash, wood fencing, concrete) and then hopefully move in to commercial when we get a little more experience. I am outlining below what I do know we are wanting, as well as some questions we have on some of it. Really hoping to get some answers here and narrow it all down.</SPAN>

Trailer</SPAN>

  • We know that we are definitely going to be doing an enclosed trailer because of the weather in Colorado and for security purposes.</SPAN>
  • Likely going to have a trailer that is between 12ft – 16ft with barn style doors, tandem 3500lb axles and electric brakes.
</SPAN>
Pressure Washer</SPAN>

  • We are wanting to go with a hot water unit nothing less than 5gpm and 3000psi, but if we can an 8gpm unit would be fantastic. </SPAN>
  • From reading on the forums I know that we should look at something that has both a Honda or Vanguard engine and Becket burners.</SPAN>

Questions</SPAN>

  1. Are there other things to consider when looking at units? (Generator, HP, horizontal or vertical, etc..)</SPAN></SPAN>
  2. What changes the price between units with similar specs? (BTU, coils of becket burners, etc)</SPAN></SPAN>
  3. Should I be concerned with brands? We are looking at Pressure Pro and HydroTek.
</SPAN></SPAN>
Softwash</SPAN>

  • Pretty sure that we are going to go with the new unit that Bill just posted from the pressurewashstore.com</SPAN>

Surface Cleaner</SPAN>

  • Likely going to start off with the Whisper Wash Classic 19” and then get an additional larger unit when we start more commercial work.</SPAN>

Wands, Guns, Etc.</SPAN>

  • Doug covered a lot of this and gave us a pretty solid understanding of what we need here.</SPAN>

Chem’s and Mixes</SPAN>

Here I wanted to see if there is anything you guys would recommend picking up right off the bat to have when starting out.</SPAN>

  • We have found a local supplier for SH and will pick this up</SPAN>
  • Likely going to go with Roof Snot for our surfactant</SPAN>
  • I hear a lot of people liking EBC, should we pick this up right off the bat.</SPAN>
  • Doug recommended Worlds Best Graffiti Remover any other inputs here?</SPAN>

Prebuilt Skid or Buy everything and set it up myself?</SPAN>

This is one that I am having a tough time with and just wanted to get some input on it.</SPAN>

Well I think that is everything…LOL

I look forward to getting your guy’s input on this, and thanks in advance.</SPAN>

I would strongly recommend the pre built skid. Also you need to keep some F9 on hand. Of the two I'd go hydro Tek.

What about the water tank?

Our climates are pretty similar, every pressure washing company out here has enclosed and atleast a 500g water tank.

Personally I would get a bigger trailer both weight and length. Put a big tank, or maybe a big and small tank (Reclaim later on) and know when you do concrete or houses you have the option of using a tank instead of hose.

You don't have to use the tank when you don't need to and can run around close to empty. Its easier to not fill the tank, then to try and add one later.

when you are ready to lay out the cash just call Russ or Paul, get advice from them. they will talk to you find out what you are doing and will recommend what you need they will not steer you wrong. they will not sell you something just to sell it.

I have a box van that has everything you're looking for already in it that's for sale. You can drive it and not have to worry about pulling a trailer around with you.

Oh yeah Doug I forgot about the
F9, what do you think start with a case? Also if you get a chance can you still have Paul call me about the equipment setup.

Yeah I was thinking maybe a 300 gallon tank and maybe adding on later for a reclaim unit.

Also Ben being in similar climates do you see your residential customers needing any particular service more then others. We don't have the mold and algae issues humid areas do.

Vince you got more info on that? The only thing I don't like about the box truck is if it is broken down so is your business unless you have a back up truck. That and if you need to leave the site for anything there is no just dropping the trailer.
