Looks like you guys may need some clarity on elections and the executive board.
Board Positions
The PWNA membership votes for 4 board position every year. There are 13 positions on the board. Twelve of those positions are voted on and one is filled by the immediate past president. Board positions are for 3 years, hence the reason for 4 positions every year.
Executive Baord Positions
At the end of the annual board meeting, elected board member hold an election for the executive committee. This is when executive committee is formed and it is when the President is elected and voted on. In the past it has been the natural progression for the 1st VP to become the next president. Normally, this person has moved up the chain of executive position to eventually fill the Presidency, though this has not always been the case. Generally, the board has to decide whom among us is the best qualified and willing to devote the time and effort to the position.
As the current Immediate Past President I honestly can say that the position eats up about 20 to 30 hours a week. If Doc Riesman is willing and he gets the nomination, he is qualified and has the time to devote to the association and its future growth. I will support the nomination. I know Docs situation and I am very thankful that his current employer is will support Doc if he gets the nomination.
