Last Friday night my wife and I were enjoying a nice sushi dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. Her iPhone had a dead battery so she put it into her purse which was hanging on the chair. That night she went to retrieve the phone... and it was gone!
A thief had stolen the phone out of her purse at some point. Luckily we had the application installed called "Find iPhone." At first when we logged into the iCloud to track her phone it was still dead because it couldn't be traced. The thief charged her phone and in the morning he turned it on. A green light came on our computer screen to indicate that the phone was turned on... From there it located the device in a bad trailer park neighborhood. The application gave us the opportunity to remotely lock the phone (which we did), erase all the data (if we wanted to) and even make the phone sound an alarm. The alarm part would be essential if these thieves were to lie when the cops got there. We could make an alarm sound and locate it if they had hidden it!
It was pretty cool to know where her phone was and that we were on to this guy! We drove to the area and staked it out... wrote down the info and called the cops to have someone meet us.
Long story short, the cops went in and arrested the thief. We got our phone back and it is quite satisfying!
If you don't have this app it's a must have! Even if you lose it in your house you can make it sound an alarm and go find it.
