The Ecology APU offered by Quiet-Aire utilizes a 3 stage filter system and is available in a variety of configurations to meet engineering design requirements for the elimination of grease particulate, smoke and odor from the kitchen exhaust air stream.
 
First impression is this is a cleaner's nightmare! I went through all of the pdf files on the website, and I like the idea that it allows a kitchen where one might of not previously been an option. But, by the looks of it, it would require more maintenance than an average restaurateur is willing to pay for. I imagine it going for a niche market.
Is there any experience cleaning one of these? installed over a few fryers and char-broiler?
Any pictures/videos of what to expect it will look like after 6 months of service (or a year for slack owner/managers)?
 
It is a diffrent version of the Captive Aire PCU units. Pain in the ass. HVAC companies don't like them because they require grease cleaning of the fan and the inital filters. In front of the units to the hood they are like a regular system but since they are sold as smoke and odor absorbers they shoe-horn these units into the cielings. with no thought of ever opening either this PCU unit or the hood behind it. Hood cleaning companies don't like them because you have to carry a full set of the rough, main and hepa filters these untis use. You end up replacing the filters piecemeal the rough first next service or two the mains and then the hepas so your crews end up carting all these filters back and forth.
