Leaking PumpTec Head on Fence Staining Rig (Video)

Hi Russ - Here is a video of my staining rig. Can you help me understand what may be causing the leaking from the pump and pressure regulator? It is a pumptec 112T pump less than 1 month old. The original pump (same brand/model) did the same thing after a couple months and that's why Wood Defender installed the second one. I would appreciate your thoughts and/or suggestions.

Looks to me like the stain has taken every rubber seal out of the thing. Many rubber compounds can't handle solvent based materials.

I took the rig back to Wood Defender when the first pump leaked like this and watched them take it apart and rebuild it. All of the o-rings were viton and showed no wear. They rebuilt the pump with all new viton o-rings and put it back on the rig. It leaked as soon as they turned it on, so they put on the new pump that's on there now. Is it possible that the pump or motor warp from heat? I've sent this video to Wood Defender and PumpTec as well. I'll let you know what I hear from them. Thanks...Jim

Does the pump get hot??? It shouldn't.

Had the same problem so I bought the whole pump assembly hoses and all from ready seal ........Been working great ever since........dont have time to buy and replace part by part

I would recommend a Titan 440i next time you need a pump. With proper care you will not have any problems. They might cost a little more but will save you time and money in the long run.
