Left my ignition key "on" a day.

Shouldn't have hurt anything. Did it run the battery down? The only thing that would be powered up while the key is on would be the solenoid on the carburetor.

I've left the fuel on leaving a job site... hard start next time I tried. I didn't realize how big a deal that was. I thought it was a safety thing, I didn't know about the gas getting up to the spark plug etc. Thanks Adrian for explaining it to me.

Was that in a thread here? If so could you direct me to it please? Would like to read, thanks :)

I don't remember there ever being a thread on it. But a couple years ago I was having problems with my new 4gpm machine, Honda. Was very hard to start and even pull the cord. Took like 10 pulls to start it and after the 6 or 7th pull it got a little easier and finally started. Gas would drip out of the carb too. Took it to my Small Engine guy and he said to shut it off at the gas, and run it out of gas, never use the switch. I had never heard this before in all the years that I have had these smaller engines. But I took his advice and, never have had the problem since. Starts first pull every time.
