Liquid Pool Shock alternative?

I have been to 4 local pool stores and no one has the LPS, one store even told me that I could not buy it in NC. Has anyone else had any problems like this? What would be a good alternative?

I don't know where in NC you are, but I've been getting mine from ICE in Wilmington. They deliver pretty far, and their stuff is REALLY fresh when you get it. It's $185 plus tax for a 55 gallon drum delivered. http://www.icenc.com

I'm trying to find it here in Houston as well. Delivered is about $220-250. I ran into a guy that makes his own. This dude really knows the science. Because I don't wash daily, I'm going to try 8.25% Clorox from costco. Its high volume so pretty fresh. Stays under or about 80 degrees. So I don't have to worry about it being in holding tanks in this Texas heat and Houston humidity nor whether or not its mixed with old sh. When sh gets over 80 it starts going bad quick. Like 3 days for every 10 degrees over 80. A bottle from a case I got today tested right under 10% on some meter this dude had. The set up was really awesome. Either way, at $8 for a 3-pack I'm good.

CL, around here Home Depot has their 8.25% HDX for $2.95. Right beside it is Clorox 8.25% for about a two bucks more.

That's just really weird. I just cleaned a house with Clorox from Costco - 2 gallons, no water, 2 oz of elemonator and some pink dish soap from sams. Worked great! The green was almost all gone before I finished my initial application of soap. Rinsed without dwell time and presto! a clean house and happy customer. I think my GP chemical injector mixes a 10 to 1 ratio. Clorox ends up being $2.71 gallon - not bad! Maybe when I get into roofs or use more I'll buy bulk, but for now, I'm good.

I thought $185 was a ripoff too, but I thought it was just the cost of doing business up here. I don't know where else to look though. Univar said $300 a barrel delivered.

Last time I bought from Univar it was $92 a drum 4 drum min.We went through several drums an it was really weak an after the 31 drum I bought from them I demanded them to test it when the results came back it was weak just like I had been telling them they gave me credit for the last 4 drums I picked up.The time after that I didn't put my placards out on my box truck and they told me never to comeback.I thought I was screwed but I found a place close by with much fresher product.I do miss picking up odds and end chemicals from them though.

I asked my distribution store last week what percent our SH is and he told me it comes it at 16% and by the end of week will be around 12-14%...I never knew it came it that high of percentage?

I've seriously been considering making my own, but my wife has a real problem with me setting up a chemical factory. Univar says $1.87 per gallon x 53 gallon drums. $107 w/ tax. It's about 28 miles away though. They sell quite a bit, so much I have to call my guy to check stock. I get my SH beads from them. They also carry the oxalic.

My issue is using it all up before it goes bad.

How long do you think it will stay at 12%? 30 days?

Im not 100% sure how long it will last, I have never had mine longer than 2 days. I burn through SH like crazy, sometime I go to my supply store 2-3 times a week, and then there are some weeks I go everyday

Wow, that's awesome! I'm looking forward to that!

Wow, that's a fast rate of diminishment! Does the rate then begin to slow?

he said it holds between 12-14%

Delivery is expensive but if you are doing a big job the time you would save is worth every penny!
