logging equipment

I have started doing some work for a logging company. The new rules here are that the equipment must be cleaned before its alowed to be moved from the site. Now i have done heavy equipment before but this is way beond what i am used to. Not only do you have to get all the grease off but ALL THE DIRT. Even in the cab, under the tracks, every nook and crany. Is anybody else doing this work? I spent an hour and a half on a bulldozer today. That just seems crazy to me.

I was hauling a Cat D5 dozer once. I figured since I was under 10' wide I was good to go from Downey, CA to Phoenix, AZ at night.

I got to the Ehrenberg, AZ Port of Entry. They found 1 fire ant on the dozer after inspecting it and made me go back to Blythe, CA to have the whole machine steam cleaned.

Needless to say the 7 AM delivery turned into a 12 noon delivery by the time I was done. They charged me over $300 to clean it at the truck stop.

the 2nd "rule of sales" is about "percieved value"..
IF the customer percieves he needs to pay you, for a specific item or task,
let him..
Just make sure you are profitable, and you have a "sustainable relationship". Eh?

and opening the chapter in "Marketing"..
Find other customers with the same need, and you have a sustainable market.

Thats pretty good. For a dozer. I have spent 3 hours on some .
