Long night, Cops, hydrants, beggers and so on

Last night we did out hospital bi-weekly account then progressed to a filthy shopping center. This center has never been cleaned and the mold on the sidewalks is the worst I have ever seen in my brief stint of commercial cleaning.

I called the city prior to lunch to have a meter put onto the hydrant because of the local Barney Fifes being really nosey. As soon as we got there an officer came roaring into the parking lot lights on flash lights out and in our faces. She asked what were doing, I replied working, then why are you hooking up to the fire hydrant for water, don't you know thats illegal, i then replied yes thats why i had a meter installed by your city to make it legal. Then she ranted and raved about the noise of our machines and so on but left after a brief chat.

Within 3 minuets my helper walked back to his car on the other side of the parking lot to get his phone, and she came roaring back into the lot with her spot light on him. She interrogorated him for 25 minuets, running his liscense, calling another local PD that has his liscense suspended and checking for warrants. She did not see him get out of his car nor did she see him get the phone from it so for all she knows he rode with me there. WHO DO I SEND THE BILL TO FOR HIS 25 MINUETS OF MISSED WORK?

After this happened we got back to work, and someone pulled up to my bumper started fumbeling around in their vehicle and immediatly i grabbed the shotgun thats on the trailer and also cocked the hammer of a little 25 in my pocket not knowing what was going on. This fool came up trying to sell me something and i gave him the look and told him were trying to make a DA*N living and we dont have time for his SH**. He left and we proceded to continue along the shopping center.

After about 3 hours passed we got back to the hydrant and started it up again filling, another cop came over in the same fasion lights on, flash lights in our faces, wondering who is going to pay the bill for the water were using and don't we know thats illegal. I immediatly turned on my light thats on my head and had it in his face, then turned to show him the meter and he understood what was going on.

All in all we did not finish the center last night and will have to go back tonight to finish. Were e-jetting 12% down and letting it dwell for 15-25 minuets before cleaning it. Were having to go as slow as a turtle crawling on goose poop. I posted a couple of photos as well as a little demo i am doing for CVS's reigonal. there is a CVS at this center and they had a recent slip and fall lawsuit at this partictular store. They had someone wand it but it looks like crap.

Does anyone else ever have the local cops bothering them when they can plainly see them working?

Look at this photo, are we going to slow? If we go any faster we leave stripes even with the heat all the way up, and bleach all over the place.

I have seen it all, the one thing they missed was the fact you broke every EPA code known to man in this area with the bleach!!!! hahahahaha

I cant believe you got 3 hours out of a tank of water, how big is your tank?
Anyone who does this kind of nite work is going to have some great stories.

I had 2 330 gallon totes on the trailer with an additional 330 in the bed of the truck, we were using the 8gpm machine with th SC and a 4gpm for rinsing and cutting it in

The 3 hours is just a guestimation, but we filled up twice last night after carrying two of the totes full

Sometimes its like that, Hope you have a better night next time. The photos look great.

What flow, pressure and tips are you using? Looks like WW 28" surface cleaner.

yes its a big guy with a few miles on it now. I removed the stickers after a week or two and we clean it off every week or so.

Pressure was probably close to 3000 and using 1504 tips in the surface cleaner. We tried 2504 and had decent results but the 1504 seemed to offer a better cleaning on this property

Sounds like you need to have a talk with the local PD. That is insane that they would harass you like that.

i posted the wrong photo above about moving too slow. Look at this one, we fixed the far right side of the photo, we were moving too fast and it caused the area to not be cleaned so well. I will try going back over this area tonight with the 15045's and see what happens with it but i cannot promis much more to the owner im afraid. Its kinda like the car that hasn't been washed in 20 years and them expecting it to shine line new

Just spray a lite coat of Love on it and walk away..

Even though they were harassing you, they were probably not too far away if you did need them.

I would go and have a talk with a chief or captain during the day and let them know what you are doing and explain what happened so they are all on the same page and how you are just trying to earn a living honestly.

Good Luck!

I don't get along well with, as my wife calls them, "small p*n*s cops.

She used to respect them, but they just treat everyone like sh*t.

I don't put up with their crap. I know you might think that is an exaggeration, but I can direct you to friends who cringe when police even sniff in our direction and my wife, who sits there big eyed even when I get a speeding ticket because she knows one smart-alec remark from him and that cop won't soon forget what he gets from me, most of which will go right over his 5th grade hall monitoring mentality head.

Simple rule of thumb a guy in a $100,000 rig is probably working.

Now with that said. How do you fix the problem? Now they require a college degree in most of the largest cities. How much worse can it get? A college degree? At least a high school graduate has some common sense. But once they've gone to college all common sense is gone out the window!!:p

I'm sure there are good cops out there. One day I might meet one. Lots of my relatives are cops. Even with my relatives there's not a one among them who doesn't have short man syndrome (even though they're over 6 ft tall)

Chris, that's their job.

Their job is to help law abiding citizens from being abused by law breakers.

It's not their job to repeatedly abuse people who are just trying to make a living. Just because they are close by in case we need help is no excuse for repeated abuse.

Maybe they're different down your way and you've had a better experience with them.
