Lurker coming out of the woodwork

Guys,

I have been lurking your board(s) for nearly a year now. I have never seen such a bunch of guys so committed to their craft, and so willing to cooperate with one another. The amount of information sharing alone makes for exciting reading. Each time I get on there's more information, fun, jabbing and sparring and good old fashioned conversation. It's a great community, plus, as a Florida lover, I get to see and hear about the area daily.

I love clean things, I enjoy working outdoors, I've spent the last 13 years behind the desk getting fat. The profile of guys I see here are very similar to myself in the commitment to doing a good job, holding high values and honesty first and foremost, a smart group of people who constantly look for ways to improve and are willing to put in a good - hard - days work.

Where I live (Northern Illinois), in a 20-50 mile radius, is mostly two story homes between 8 and 20 years old. Lot's of north facing surfaces and lot's of algea and dirt. I would say in the small town I live in (pop. around 6,000) that 30 to 40% of the homes need work. Outside my immediate area, the ratio goes up as the homes are older.

I would love to give this a go, and plan on at least part-timing it on my own time when the weather breaks just to see, but I also believe strongly in other peoples opinions who have traveled the road first.

How do you go about planning your year? Do you have a "rooftop to revenue" target or formula?

Any help would be appreciated.

Keep up the great work!!

TM

* After re-reading my post, I realized what a stupid question it was. I know what my answer would have been if someone asked me the same thing about a business I spent a decade learning. I do have a family though, that's why I asked.
