My Neighbor

Hello everyone,
My neighbor has something on his brick house and we can't figure out what it is or how to remove it. I figured it was effloressence but I'm not sure. He used muratic acid and it didn't work. I bought a gallon of brixx frrom northern and it didn't work as well as a chemical called Ef-fortless from safe restore and it didn't work either. I'm not sure what we should use. I am posting a link; for some reason I can't upload a few photos. Any help would be much appreciated!

Try looking at white scum It is often confused with efflorescence.

Thats what it looks like to me, what have you tested?

If you dont use a prevention Chem it will be right back in around two weeks to a year.

I used a product called Ef-fortless from a company down here in Houston that sells Safe Restore. The woman i got the sample from said it should work better that Safe Restore assuming it was effloresence, but it didn't work. I also used a product called Brixx from Northern Tool, and it didn't work either. He's just been asking for me to get some info because he really wants to get it off of his house. Once we figure it out, then i'll put a prevention chem on it.

Have you tried a heavy base cleaner like butyl or caustic and then maybe seal the brick if it comes clean.. Are you using hot water and full strength chems ?

I have used the chems at fill strength in non noticible areas to no success. I have not used any pressure on it since he had first asked me about it approx. 7 months back, but it was with a cold water machine, but it did nothing.

HD Britenol and / or NMD 80, both Eaco Chem (Makers of Safe Restore) products should work if Ef-fortless didn't.
