Need help with this project. We will be using our hot water setup and surface cleanrrs. We would appreciate any input on a good, affordable cleaning detergent and concrete brightener that saves on time. This area has not been cleaned in 5+ years. Customer not as worried about price as they are results, so we really want to make it shine. Thank you for all of your help.

If they are worried about results, do you have a recovery system? The cost of detergents is often directly proportional to how well they work. For something like that, I use Ultrite Degreaser. You can get it at White Cap Building Materials, and it is about $30 a gallon. It will also emulsify that stuff and clean the concrete really well.

First thing I would do is see what product is in the tanks and pipes, a lot of products don't do well with heat and/or hot water, even if they are flowing.

I would discuss this with them first to see if they have an issue with this, if the pipes and tanks are even in service, if not, have they been cleaned out so heat will not be an issue, etc...... Some products expand many, many times their volume with heat added so I would check it out to be safe.

Bio diesel grease tanks? Drainage is your problem there you will definitely need to vacuum, that will turn into a pond fast. If your degreaser doesn't eat all the way through on the first try, it will be hard to get it to work further after water is everywhere. Shovel out what you can before cleaning. Let the soap do the work.

To Tom these are 10W30 oil tanks. They have an oil separater that drains cleaned water to a containment pond and we will have oil pads out to catch some as well. Thank you Scott and Chris, we are trying to set up a presentation for the company with a brief desciption of a few products that we can use. Customers concern is if detergent will clog oil separater? Not sure how to find this out?

Make sure the degreaser has a low foam surfactant in it or you will have a foam bath.Like the others said if that doesnt drain out you will have a mess within minutes.Good luck with that.

Hal Great Advice, you don't need that in this setting
