A little about me first i have been putting together my company for several months making sure i make all the right steps. I have a hot water trailer rig 4000 psi 4 gpm sytem with all the attatchments and goodies. I have covered most of the essetials to present myself as professional as possible. My main question right now is i was walking out of my local gym and noticed another company had recently done a gum removal right in front of the main entrance. The reason i noticed it was because they left behind what looks like to me etching in the concrete from a turbo nozzle and it looks horrible. It is all over the place and I would have been ashamed if that was my work. I have spoke with assitant manager and was asked to speak with head honcho in two days. My concern is will i be able to cover up or fix what looks like a total disaster for gum removal and what would be the best way to fix the problem. Thank you for your inputs and will gladly give anymore information as needed.

your probably not licensed or insured to correct it properly but it can be honed or grinded down easily. i doubt they will care that much to spend the money on the fix unless they are going after the contractor who did it. Just let them know it costs more to clean it and not damaging it and go to work getting the proper pay to do it the right way at the right frequencies. If your friends with a gc that type of repair is easily done and pays good. and your gonna need a signature on the bottom of your posts if you plan on sticking around...welcome to the board.

Thanks for the responses. I am insured only with a 1 mil coverage at the moment. Would it be possible to use a surface cleaner or a low degree tip to maybe blend in the marks some with the surronding concrete. And i forgot to mention that some parts are colored concrete. My whole thing is i dont want to give false promises to the store owner that i could fix it if it wont because i havent ran into this particular situation before. any and all advice will be apprecitated thanks.

When you have a new guy or a guy that does not know what he is doing and he is Carving, Grinding, Etching and wearing down the concrete with a pressure washer, that damage is permanent.

I have not seen a store, restaurant or business park manager or owner pay money to fix the damage or pour new concrete.

That damage is permanent.

I would not try to adjust the damage or try to make it not look as bad because you just never know, someone sees you there wanding the concrete what will they see?

They see you wanding the concrete with all this damage everywhere. Do you think that they will ask you if you are damaging the concrete or will just see you and the damage there? It is too easy to have people start bad talking you to others everywhere, even when you are wanting to do the right thing.

There is only a small chance you can make the damaged concrete look better but a huge chance to make it look a lot worse along with people seeing you and damaged concrete and you damaging concrete to try to blend in with the good concrete.

If it is weak concrete (huge possibility here in Texas) the damage will only get worse and worse, I would stay away from it.

sorry jonathan not tryin to bash you i meant not licensed or insured to do concrete resufacing with grinders..thats the only way your gonna get down to an even consistent look..especially with colored crete acids will affect that stuff too so be careful...im with chris on this one...theres a ton of cya with a job like your talking...and it may not come out to the expectations your customers will set. just let them know you can clean it without doing any further damage....and prove it through a demo with tons of before and after pics

I would take pictures or a video or the damaged area before you even start the pressure washer to do a demo. This way you protect yourself and they can't come back on you saying that you damaged the surface.

I'm in agreement with the posters above...

Once the Cream has been removed from the surface, the aggregate is exposed and the concrete is permanently destroyed. From that point on, EVERY TIME the concrete is cleaned more aggregate will be removed, and ultimately more damage will be done!

Personalty, I would walk away from the job and just let the hacks finish their work. I think it's bad for business to sign your name on stuff like that, because it only lump you up into the "hack" category, ya know?

Besides, there's a lot more to wash out there!

Here are some pictures of what i was talking about. These are also just a ssmall portion of everything. Thank you all for your recommendations. I believe i will explain to the client what happend and how to prevent it from happening again and if i am asked to do thier work from here till whenever i believe i will accept based on a few decisions 1. being it a chain of stores so possibly land more jobs 2. a detailed explanation of what i can do and cannot do as well as the damage that has already been done to the concrete. 3. like many of you said it wouldnt be wise to have your work put out as the errors of someone else and i think that can be countereacted because it will be an after hours job later on in the night.

Nice work...

On the bright side, you might be able to find all the pieces that you blasted out, and pack it back in the holes that you created.

Good Luck on your new business venture!

Could you explain in more detail? I am fairly new to this industry not to say that i havent done my leg work in research and absorbing information from sites like these and talking with people. I just dont have alot of experience under my belt. And i wont be a fly by night company because of personal ethics and values. Im depending on quality and integrity to get me where i need to be. So anyone wiling to lend some knowledge would be great and maybe one day i can do some lending. lol

That's not a turbo nozzle doing the damage...but a zero degree tip. I am always uncomfortable doing work on top of someone else's permanent screw up. No matter how good a job you do, it will only look at good as the previous hack's job.
