Hi,
First off let me introduce myself, my name is Edgar Medrano, from Houston,TX, 23 years old 3rd year Construction Management student at U of H. I did some pressure washing jobs the past two summers for extra cash. I was a little familiar with the pressure washer, having owned one, but only basics. After speaking with some pro's and doing some research, I found out that I was hurting the business with my summer jobs, underpricing jobs, uninsured, going way below any pro could compete with. I immediately stopped and started doing a bunch of research. I saved up some money and pretty soon I'll have enough to start legit. I've been thinking of starting off with a North Star 4000psi 4gpm hot/cold trailer unit. I am not yet 100% confident with commercial equipment or know the proper techniques and regulations. Can anyone recommend any training vids, possibly local hands on training. I am very interested in doing restaurants, fleet trucks, businesses, and homes. I would really like to be more knowledgeable and better informed on the business before I dump a lot of hard earned cash. I realize I would have to start small and I would like to eventually move up by gaining the right experience from the start. Any input would help. Thanks

Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from the northstar toys, there are about 4 of them on craigslist in Houston right now.

If you are going to be doing this for a living, get a quality machine like a Hotsy, Alkota, Landa, etc......Most of the time the northstar machines are not put together that well and the wait time to get them repaired is a week or longer. Get a reputable machine from a quality vendor and they will take care of you quickly when you need work done.

Hey Edgar, welcom to PWI. Give me call sometime and we can talk. I'm right here in the Humble/Kingwood area.
