New gauge question

I just took a new gauge out of the box to mount on my pump and the needle is stuck at 500psi. Is this normal until the pump starts running or a sign of defect?

I contacted the company I bought the gauges from and they suggested I install the gauge and see if it resets to zero.

The left gauge is connected to a 30' hose, the right gauge is mounted on the pump.

After running the pump for 3 minutes (or so) I shut it off. The gauge in question settled at 600psi.

A = before starting the pump
B = while the pump is running (at reduced pressure)

I would just return it and get one that reads zero.Mine will do that when it gets really cold or air gets in there some how.

Looks like maybe a bad batch from that vendor, maybe time to get a refund and try another vendor.

I wonder if they even looked at the gauge before it was sent out to you to prevent lost time on your part? I would ask them but that is just me.

I looked at the gauge when I received it and it was fine. It also seemed to be working when I started the pump a couple times. I didn't pay any attention to it after that... until yesterday. When I finished the job and was loading up, I noticed the reading ... I just shook my head.
