New sales person or new washer person?

Which would benefit your business more? To hire a sales person to go out and get new accounts/business or hire a new washer person to help you so you can go out and get new accounts/business.

I am a professionsl sales person :) of course I would say a sales person. It really just depends on how much growth you would like to acheive and what type of budget you would be working with.

Depends on self evaluation. If you feel you have subpar selling skills, then you'd want to hire a sales person. For the most part, we ALL hire out what we can't or don't want to do.

In that case I need to hire both! I can't sell and I'm getting to old to climb around all over the place!:shout:

Id say worker first get him trained then start selling.

Having good employees trained to do the work gives you the opportunity to go out and sell, after all who can sell your buisness better than you.

This would be a conundrum for me. If I had to make a decision, I would probably go with a true sales person. I have more problems training someone to clean, in the manner I want it done, then I do training someone to sell. I can sell, but I think that I am more valuable training and working, as much as my body hates to admit it, and as much as I would like to reduce my daily Aleve intake.

Tell us how it went or is going Kemp, very interested in your success

Hands down no one will ever sell for your company as good as you! You can more easily find a washer than a salesperson.

Totally disagree AC, I have met alot of guys out there at RT's. Some of these guys are very shy and don't even talk to other contractors at RT's events. These are the guys that would have a really hard time selling a fast food restaurant more less a PM that has centers all over the city. They need sales help more than anything......AC you are the type that selling comes natural and have learned to be great at sales. Some on the other hand better hire it done to grow or be happy as a small operator.

This is a great ex of a person shutting down during a sale opportunity. A friend of mine is a Res. landscaper. Mows about 125 yards a week within a 3 mile radius. Very nice small business, pretty much owns what they call hamburg in Lexington Kentucky for Res mowing. The other day we met for a late breakfast at chick fil a. After about an hour of talking about marketing, sales , and how he wants to expand to commercial work he brings up this restaurant just fired the old guy for flirting with a counter girl and hired some fly by night. So seeing the owner in the store I suggested that he tries to take this property over before the season starts. He says no way, turns red, and is telling me if I ask the owner over he would get up and leave. no shit. All his customers were from word of mouth. He can't sell, has no confidence in how to sell .......so for you to say you can sell your business better than anyone is not true in all cases.

I think the point in your post is they will not and maybe should have never attempted to start a business. They should go get a Job ASAP

+1 on that. IMO sales should be the last division you remove you self from in the company.

Tech first, then admin, then sales.

I just had to chime in, your over admin and trying sales. DJ look at the tech again, you need to reduce production time. You have the order correct but forgot to really refine that part.

+100000 I believe there is a direct correlation between a business owner and a sales person.

I have found very few "business owners" that are techs over any other position in their company.

Mirza isn't out pulling filters!
