New to me pump, help needed

I got this old unit from a guy. All I had to do was load it up. Need some help with this as I have do not know what year it is and cannot find a serial #. Thinking of possibly using this as a second unit till I save some more money to get a new unit. All I can tell is that it is a Mi-T-M 2405 and it turns over free as a j-bird. I can also hear the suction and pressure from it. Need help with the year model and what type of unloaderSANY0113.JPGSANY0127.JPGSANY0128.JPGSANY0129.JPGSANY0130.JPGSANY0112.JPG it is along with the bypass or block that is. Thanks.

The GX340 is an 11 hp engine. The 2405 means 5 gpm, 2,400 psi. Anything else you need to know, just ask.

What is the correct rotation of the unit? Can the thermal relief valve be removed and a hose run to the buffer tank. What would be the best way to test this to see if it dose work, I have an electric motor that I could use for bench testing.
Thanks for the help. Looks like I will be calling soon for some parts.

Does the engine run at all? There is no specified rotation for a General Pump. Does it not have a cart to bolt to? Yes, if you're going to tank feed it and bypass back to your tank, the thermal valve is useless. You'd be better off using the hole as a second suction port, and feed both sides from the tank.

Yes I have the cart. Engine is no good, took it for the engine size and pulley if I can get it off. fourth pic is the cart and block but I am not sure of how it works. I see what I think is the thermal valve, the bypass hose, but am unsure of what the 3/4 hose is for. I plan on using an electric motor to turn this over and see any leaks or if it will make pressure. I can take other pics that show thing better if you would like. Also the pump would have to be lifted to get clearance between the cart and pulley. I plan on using aluminum blocks to get the clearance or is there a better way. Thanks.

The 3/4" hose is your bypass hose. It slips onto the barb sticking out of the unloader. The base may be designed for the pump pulley to hang off the side of the base...a lot are. Please tell me you got a belt guard with it. Soak the pulleys thoroughly with penetrating oil for a while. Those are taper lock pulleys. They don't just pull off.

...more later...my dinner's ready.

I take that back. Looking at the picture of the base, there was a mount that the pump sat on. A set of tall General Pump rails should fix you up for height.

The taper locks must be removed by separating the sheave from the bushing. You do that by removing the bolts and running them in to the threaded holes 90° from where they are. Tighten them evenly and carefully...you don't want to break one. Once the sheave is forced off the back of the bushing, the bushing can be pulled from the shaft.

Looks like I have my work cut out for this weekend or a few. Hopefully it will all work out and I will have a back up for the back up till I get my new unit. I am sure I will have other questions for you and I am sure they are stupid ones. This will be a good learning experience one way or the other. There is no belt guard, I will have to fab one if the times comes.

Hello Russ. Hope you had good holiday season. Can you give me the price of the unloader? E- mail me if you prefer to do it that way. Gas tank worked like it was made for it, changed the bendix on the starter - works like a charm, swivel rebuild kits did not work, had a job come up so, went to my local P/W dealer for new ones. I'm sure I will find a use for the kits I have now. I think that the reals are just two old. Thanks for all the help. Have you ever thought of putting on a review section on your web site for testimonials? Would like to let the people who go to your Webb site read how helpful you are!

WOW. Got the parts today. You are fast. Just another question, what is the best size hose to run from the bypass to tank? I have read 3/8 to 1". I understand larger hose = more volume , will 1" have enough pressure to get to the tank? Unloaders to tank is all new to me. Update on pump, should fire this Saturday and start to fab the belt guard. Will take some pics soon.
