Im looking at a building thats commercial and not sure what the exterior is made of. Its not stucco for sure, has a semi rough texture and i do know it has some kind of fiberboard behind it with a top coat on it. Just needing to know what it is called to be more informed and advise on cleaner to use on it. Thanks much, Pat

Post some pictures and we can help you out more.

Dryvit Systems, Inc. is the original Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) manufacturer in the United States and the company that spawned the highly-successful EIFS industry in North America beginning in 1969.

It is E.I.F.S. or dryvit it is still dryvit.

I use a strong house wash mix xjetted to save time if its a big job if its on a house I downstream a strong house wash mix on it.

JC is absolutly right. Here is one that we do once a year. The Bldg. is steel framed but the exterior has the same texture as you are descibing. (Actually sounds hollow when you tap on it.) When we Clean it we just DS it with a good House Wash mix followed by a lite rinse. It always comes out great. We also put up and take down their Hurricane Shutters every year which is actually what we did yesterday.
