Nozzels for Delavan 5850?

I am hoping to get a dual pump system from powerwashstore.com soon, but in the meantime, I am stuck trying to work with what I have. I can't figure out what size nozzles to use with a Delavan 5850. I already burned out one I only used maybe a total of 10 hours. Can someone please tell me what size nozzles to use? Also, is it possible to shoot a roof from the ground or a ladder with the Delavan?

i use a 4030 spray nozzle and a 0030 nozzle as well. We also use 1/2 hose. My 5850 has been in use since april and has over 250 roofs on it plus around 50 house washes as well.

Really? I burned out my pump using a 6530 nozzel.

I dont think its the nozzle it may be another issue you may have like wiring or something else.

well, I am new to this but I can't imagine what else it could be. Wiring seems pretty simple. Black goes to negative and red goes to positive. that's pretty straightforward. I have a half inch hose and it's only about 150 feet. I spent every last penny I had a couple months ago buying a used roof cleaning and pressure washing trailer. It has turned out to be nothing but a money pit though. And turns out the pressure washer never put out the PSI/ GPM and that the guy claimed it did. My local pressure washer distributor has pretty much written off my entire rig has garbage and keeps pushing me to spend money I don't have to pretty much rebuild it from scratch.

What type of battery do you have and what size wire is being used and also what type of connectors are being used.Wire nuts ar not good to use in low voltage pumps. You are better off with the yellow crimp ends. Those type of things all matter. As far as the machine goes there are companies out there like russ johnsons place (southside supply) and bob at pressuretek that have financing for equipment. I would just get everything running that you have and work on the business side of obtaining new accounts before spending more money on equipment. You could also apply for a small business loan to help you get going but i hear that is pretty difficult to get.

Josh,

Mike of Diamond Roof Cleaning is very knowledgeable and has steered many of us in the right direction. If you're bored you can always call me and I'll help you, also.

PS...I have 200' of 1/2 chemical hose and use the following nozzles with no problems:
4030
2530
1530

We use 5/8 hose and I have never burnt a pump up. I think the one is 5 yrs old and I use it for a rinse pump now.

Thanks for the info. I am using 14 gauge wire and I have been using wire nuts. I knew I would need to probably switch to 12 gauge, but I did not realize it might be what is burning out the pumps. I did not know about the wire nut thing either.

Josh,

If you're not doing it already keep the wire length to a minimum(12"+-), also. You can call me as I'm working on my stuff as we speak.

Josh, try adjusting the screw on the pressure switch. When your pump is running, it should be running continuously until you stop the flow. If it is cycling on/off on/off quickly with open flow, you will burn up the pressure switch. If the pump has stopped working because of this, just install another switch and adjust screw until pump runs continuously. That pump should last at least a season if adjusted properly.

Another option is to use larger orfice tips. 0040-4040. We use #30 orfice tips without any problems, just occasionally have to tweak the screw adjustment.
