Once in a Lifetime

Your first answer is the right one. on Sept 10 2010 he was accepted to recieve the medal of Honor for his 2007 action. God forbid he passed away tomorrow his Sept 10 date would be his medal of honor date. Thats the way I see it.

His real date was 2007. He is a hero and I hope one day in my lifetime I can meet him.

Matt your are so right about this post. I served in the USN and I've been around some distinguished people including some who were shot up in Vietnam but to my recollection I never had the honor to be in the same room with a Medal of Honor recipient. They are our ultimate hero's.
....

I agree John, and to be 10 feet from 15 MOH distinguished servicemen was over the top. And when the entire terminal stood up and erupted in applause it was a defining moment for how lucky we are (my wife and myself included) to be citizens of this great country.

We are still here and the hotel is now filled with these men - there should be 91 total by the weekend events here. Very very nice folks - it's quite humbling to walk amongst them.

I have the honor and privilege of doing a Patriot Guard mission tomorrow. We are escorting a 23 year old female PFC, who gave her all defending OUR Country.

Expecting upward of 500 family members, friends and fellow military personnel, along with upwards of 250 Patriot Guards.

Anyone in the Phoenix area is invited to honor this young soldier home and pay your respect and appreciation to her family and extended family.

"This will be a big ceremony. They are planning on 300-500 family and
guests. It will be hot. You need to load up on water starting on Friday.
We've had some heat-related incidents recently, and seeing that could cause
grief for the family. We need to be on our toes for them. We are honoring
a wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter... let's do this right. We will
be escorting the hero to her final resting place following the ceremony.

I'm sorry but to call someone an "ultimate hero" because they were awarded the Medal of Honor is not right. They are very brave hero's that have distinguished themselves performing under extreme conditions. The ultimate hero's are the one's that never return home. HONOR THE FALLEN AND NEVER FORGET

We truly don't do enough for all veterans in this country. Many still treated poorly because war is politics.

Patriots still live on in our souls and it's our duty to pass this on as parents to our children.

Thanks to all military people young old and dead!

I guess those men would say the best thing that happened to them is they lived. Unlike there fellows men or women.

Well done friend.

If you are aware of the Westboro Baptisit Church...good.....if not you need to be aware of theses peices of shit. They are a dispicible group that protests at service member funerals, they are the worst of the worst, look around about this group, and if you see them, do what you feel is honorable.:triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti::triniti:

BE AWARE OF THIS MANIAC GROUP

I'm aware of those idiots. What I'm amazed is someone hasn't double tapped a couple of them.

Would be a good time for jury nullification.

So true Ron.

It's so sad that the news would rather put Lindsay Lohan's drugged out ass on television every night than list the latest casualties. The only time I see anything on the news is when it's a local loss. Just by reading these threads you can tell people care. It's at least comforting to know I am in a profession where we have a large respect for our military.

Great posts everyone

They should show the ceremony when they take a fallen soldier off the plane. We all should see it and honor those that have fallen.

I don't watch the Sunday news programs hardly at all anymore but twhen I have over the past several years I would watch This Week with George Stephanopolis(sp) at the end of the hour show he would say a couple words about those that have fallen and then they would scroll all the names. It brought the war to real life for me even more. Seeing the soldiers name and rank and AGE more than once it brought a tear to my eyes. I am not weak and a crying fool, but to see an 18, 19, 20 year old name scroll by the screen I could only think what this young man gave, gave his life for something he choose to do and how his mother, father and family must hurt

It hurts me too and it should be shown to all of us. These men and women gave everything to fight for our country.

Man I wish we lived in a perfect world and no one had to die in war. Unfortunately we will never have a perfect world, but we will always have many brave country men here to protect us. God Bless them all

Well done friend.

These douchebags were suppose to protest at a funeral in Thomasville,Ga to for a fallen navy man who was killed in a helicopter crash a couple of weeks ago.I haven't heard the news tonight to see if they actually showed up,but I do know the local sheriff was prepared to keep them as far away from the funeral and it the route it was to be driving on to the cemetary.
I can only hope if they showed up some of the got some good ole south Georgia hospitality.:butcher:

Just hopped over to the local news website and read that the crazies didn't show up to protest.

I stand corrected. There all ultimate hero's. They don't have to live or die to be a true American Hero. They served and they served honorably. That is the ultimate hero. The ones who died paid the ultimate price and they should never be forgotten. Some of the medals in the Military before hand most would not want to be in the position to be awarded those medals such as the Purple Heart. Many Hero's died in protecting our Freedoms but very few of them are recognized for The Medal of Honor and the ones who are usually died in the course of there actions. Don't know how else to put this without sounding blunt but these "Medal of Honor" Recipients are very special but Yes always Honor the Fallen and Never ever forget--agreed.

I was able to see some of the vets arriving at the hotel. Very cool to see. I try and honor them every chance I get.

As far as the church group goes...I didn't think God was about hating?

Nicole, it is not about God with them, it is about money. They go to certain events and cause a passive uproar, The minute they are threatened they file charges and then sue the person. THAT is how they make their money. The church is just a front.

I was coming out of West Point a couple of years ago and they were demonstrating outside the main gate. I had to stop. While talking to one of the cops that was monitoring the situation, he explained this to me.

A tribute to the servicemen.

This is a video that I put together a few years back. We showed it at the close of the PW Seminar that I did in Albany last year.

Well I will extend our Marine Corps motto to all my fellow pressure washing vets

SEMPER FI

Hey Ryan your a "Jarhead' and I'm a "Squid" how bout we go out and beat the heck out of each other and then grab some beers afterwords:smile2: My ship was an Amphibious Ship where we transported Marines. Out at sea we used to do the "Smokers" tournaments (Boxing). The best was when a Marine fought a Navy guy. Most Marines were in better shape on average then us Squids but the fights were mostly good ones and entertaining. Then when we hit a port us guys together would party hard.

I have alot of respect for you guys and between the Fire Power of the Navy ships and the fighting machine Marine along with of course our Airforce and Army its amazing that other countries would want to tangle with us.

These days I get my azz kicked getting off the couch:grin-square: but still have no problems drinking an "Ice cold one":thumbup2:
