One Of Those Days

Now that we are 5 weeks booked out, today started with a blown hose. A six week old Goodyear busted right in the middle. On our 4th house today, one of the surface cleaners quickly lost about half its pressure. Walked back to our main unit and I see oil running over the gas tank below and can also see the main oil seal "spinning" on the shaft. My other unit has been leaking oil badly as well for the past couple weeks from who knows where as it's sprayed all over my pump and gear. YOU GOTTA LOVE BRIGGS!! At the end of the day, the guys are pulling in the hoses and somehow caught the throttle bracket on one of the Vanguards and busted it off. Geez.

Dropped the trailer off at the local shop as I hope they can get both Vanguards to stop leaking oil tomorrow. Ah, a forced day off! Do Honda's or Kohler's ever leak oil?

It sounds kinda like me. Everything runs perfect but when 1 thing breaks then it's just a domino effect and you just have to wait for it to stop.

Did the breakages happen on bigger or smaller jobs. I have found that stuff like this seems to happen more on jobs that are lower on the $/hr scale, some kind of cruel irony.

Now that I think about it...most breakages happen on the smaller jobs.

Well at least the hose burst in the middle and not near the end with the ball valve! I hate ruptured hoses! My last rupture happened on smaller job too.....

I also hate when a hose busts right near the gun as it can get you wet or hurt you. However, busting near the end is much better as you only have to add one hose end--resulting in a >90 foot fixed hose. In the middle, two hose ends are needed (double the cost to fix) to have two short <50 foot sections.

Not in the 15 years I have been using Honda's, I do change the valve cover gaskets when adjusting the valves.

I believe my next pressure washer will have my first Honda on it! Also, Mike thanks for be able to get that rush referral I sent you near the beach. I always feel bad putting a rush request in front of a client that has been patiently waiting for weeks.

That 30hp kohlor carbureted one I have is somewhat thirsty.I have heard some problems in the walker mowers they are used in but who knows

My day just got a lot worse as the Vanguards need total rebuilds. May be replacing the engines this week with Kohler's.

David, if you go with Kohler will it be the EFI models? If you were to go Kohler carburator why not Honda?

Good question about Honda. I guess I need to consider them but I was just was thinking simple and inexpensive to switch out.
