Parking Garage Elevators

James I've read this Thread since Day 1 ..its very informative I washed bank of america Garage about 2 months ago stairwell only and all around the elevators.. (all the floors). You Post have help me greatly on how lucky I was and what I should do in the future.... Sorry about your situation.

I wish I had more knowledge of what could go wrong with elevators before this happend. Its been like a fighting nightmare with the garage manager. Its a shame because this was a very good account ($6-8000) month. Every month. I was willing to just fix the elevator and get back to work. But thier corporate guys got involved and poof we are out of the garage. Live and learn thats what we do. So use barriers by the doors of the elevators and play it safe.

This is really curious to me, because in all the garages I have ever cleaned, I have never had this problem. Make sure that, since you are paying for it, you get an itemized invoice, and the old parts back. Something is just really starting to sound funny to me.

My Ins company is tearing them apart. The difference between the cost from the guy they are demanding us use and other companies is almost twice the price. They want to replace just about everything except the car!! One elevator company said its just a fried circuit board 300 bucks. Its in the Ins co hands now. Ive had it out with them to many times.

Scott,
How do you get work in garages? I have always knocked on the door and solicited them. Any hints? or is that the best way.

Sorry to hear about that James, I also think that it sounds like a scam to me also.

Be careful with that you may end up with a complete elevator in your back yard at the rate they are going. Too bad they are trying to take advantage of you on this. Sounds to me like you are their new capital improvement fund.

Either way Jim this sucks, I hope it's all worked out.

Wow, I missed this one. I was working a garage at the same week this happened, and guess what. Elevator damage. Total stupidity on my part, but the company was good about it. I filed a claim the day they told me, and admitted fault. I got paid but keep getting calls from the adjuster about the bills. The garage has never sent them in.
Hope this works its way through soon.

This whole thing is still not over. We are getting other qoutes to fix this elevator and the parking garage is fighting us all the way. They only want one company fixing the elevator. The company they want to fix it is $7000 more expensive.
