Hello Bill,

I buy our plastic locally. Just opened the bill for our last shipment:

12 rolls 2ml 10x100 $12.43/roll.
6 rolls 4ml 8x100 $11.75/roll.
6 rolls 3"x60 yards .72mm Duct tape $6.56/roll.

I thought these prices were high!

What are you cleaning that you need 100,000 sq ft of plastic sheeting at one time? Do you do industrial cleaning that you need to cove machines to clean the roof.
My other job is at a glass factory and ever year at Christmas time we need to cover the machines and anything electric to keep the water out. Then they pressure wash the roof (inside) and all of the over head walkways. These guys are walking on greesy beams about 40 ft up without being tied off. I would never do any cleaning like that.

Here is a picture of one area that we mask. We cover both walls and floor of this corridor. Grease duct runs for about 75 feet.

Here is an office that we mask for the same system. There is an access panel on the far wall! Approximately 300 feet of horizontal and vertical duct running from a 10 foot hood.

We also have several air handlers that we clean for another customer, that are located in a industral plant. We build walls with the plastic to protect their equipment. They do not let you take pictures!

I see why you need so much. I wasn't thinking about duct cleaning.

Keeping prices in line, trying to get better deals, this is what I pay,

12x400 .31mil, walls and cool equipment-9.00
8'4"x 200 1.5 mil 8.50- warm equipment, wrap
12x200 1.5 mil, 13.25- wrap

blades 100 5.49
All picked up.

What about towels? Do you guys go through a towel service or do you guys wash them yourself?

Matt

I just called my Poly America Dist. regarding your priceing. He stated that they do not make a 10 ft size 2m. However my size selection is as follows.

8.5X200-1.5 m $9.95
12X200-1.5 m $14
Tape $86 per case of 24 or $3.58 Nas. 398

I buy 120 rolls per order.

David,

Looks like Mattia gets his plastic 2 sizes $2.00 cheaper than you. And at 120 rolls thats over $200 savings. Mattia do you have a minimum order to get those prices and where do you order from, if you don't mind?

Buy locally from sherwin williams, no mininum buy. I was lucky, had a friend that is a manager, plus the general was easy to beat down to a fair price.

I have searched prices on the Left Coast some years back and came up with my supplier. They truck it and deliver two pallets at no added cost. I compare this price with Loews and HD prices.

Plastic

Bill, I buy from Lowes at $10.00 / rl 10X100 2mil. I usually buy all on the shelf plus order a pallet at a time. Usually buy 200 rls at a time. Ive worked a deal with the local store on this. Im there single largest plastic buyer. They can give you a better price than 12.50.

12x200 1.5 mil, 13.25

I am going to check my local Sherwin Williams, we must have 20 around here. Thanks for the tip Mattia. The best part is you don't have to buy a skid.

I don't like running around buying plastic-it is nice to have the two pallets delivered in my shop.

Mike look at your cost and compare your square foot price 10 x100 @ $10. vs 8.5x200 @ $9.95

Why Don’t you guys talk with your local paint, and supplies store have them stock the plastic you use and promise to buy it? I get 200' rolls for the same price... As you pay for the 100’ and they carry the inventory for me at no extra cost.

Dave have you ever had the duct leak and destroy the ceiling panels or do you remove the ones necessary so this does not happen? GOAT ;)

Thanks Mattia,

I contacted my local Sherwin-Williams and they looked into their computers for the local store that carried those sizes, well they said the prices were double Mattia's, 19 plus dollars, so I said for the heck of it, one of my acquaintenses gets it in Iowa for $8.50 and $13.75 a box. Get this, they said come on out, we'll give it to you for that price. So like my mother says, if you don't ask, you don't get. There you have. Thanks again Mattia.

Josh-3mil-why? that is expensive. You don't need 3mil-sounds a little Rusty to me.

Heavily oxidized!
