Plaza in Clearwater Florida

This is how I spent my Saturday and Sunday. Did all the concrete at a plaza in Feather sound. Some of you guys down here in this area might know it. It's the plaza where Stormin's night club used to be which is now "The Venue". Anyway, 3 months ago we did the plaza across the street that the same company owns and I guess they were impressed so they had us do this one too. This particular one is more like doing 3 in one. We did all concrete on 2 levels around 2 huge bldgs. and offices and alot of sidewalks that I don't think have ever seen soap and water. One stretch alone is a little more than a quarter mile long.

Took 3 of us Saturday 9hrs. and 2 of us 6hrs more today to finish up. Lots of concrete. My legs and feet are killing me. LOL And these are only a couple of pics of some of the front we did. Lots more on the sides and in the back of the bldgs.

Larry, Please dont take offense, If you rinse that past the stripes. The entire job will look better. Plus its easier for the sweeper to pick up the debris you pushed off the sidewalks.

Less chance the Sweeping company calls the PM and says i gotta bill you extra for the mess the PW guy made.

Just my thoughts, I hope it helps.

Thanks Ron. Let me tell ya... I haven't worn a pair of jeans or any other type of pants since the wife and I went to Gatlinburg Tn on our annivesary 2 years ago and the temp got down to 23 deg in November. I'm always in shorts. It's too bad that these pics don't show the real extent of how much work there really was at this place. I thought I was gonna die yesturday. The temp gauge in my truck said 98 deg. and it felt alot hotter than that in the direct sun. At one point I had an Ice cold towel on my head and around my neck. I got heat stroke on a 6000sq ft tile roof in August of 2006. NEVER AGAIN!

Yea, I understand Ron. If you look further down you will see newer blacktop. We did a good rinse on that area. This is only a small portion of the walk. It would have taken me hrs to rinse. They have maint people picking up papers and debris every day. (we saw them both days) I know the owner and the pm and they never have it swept by a company. I'm sure the first good rain will rinse it away. I know what you mean though Ron. I hate leaving a mess myself thats why I DID rinse the newer black top but there was just way too much. Especially for what they paid for the whole job!!!

Being in the Sweeping Business I love having it pushed out a bit more if possible to clean it up. About a month ago we had real bad wind here and one of the centers I do daily had the sidewalks cover in two inchs of dirt and for some reason somebody did a spot clean in there and well lets just say the left us a Mud Bog to clean up, it was gutter broom city to try to get it out of the cracks between the curb and pavement.

Pushed out just a bit makes it look much better and easier to clean up the left overs. ;)

Ron, Ya know what really sucked on this job? It cost me $64.00 in fuel just to run my machines. I am over this gas bs. From now on I'm sliding in an exra $100.00 on any job like that to help cover my fuel expences. Heck never mind that job. ALL JOBS from now on! LOL:)
Just an FYI. I do alot of concrete work for local dealerships in the area and always rinse the black top. When we did start trying on this job much of it was rolling right back at us. I got over that real quick and gave up. I do agree though it would look alot better. LOL-Now I'm sorry I posted that pic.....LMAO

Were you just running cold water? I know it would have cost me a lot more than that to run my hot-box for 15 hours.

Yes 2 cold water machines...I would have killed to have hot water on most all of this job. I'm really hoping to upgrade my entire rig real soon but it's al about the $$'s if you know what I mean. A new hot water skid is in my future but to do it right I want to get another trailer bigger tanks to support 8 gal a minute etc... Plus I'm going to change my roof and house cleaning setup to run a 5.5honda (already got that brand new) with a chem pump and at least 1/2in chem line. Lots I want to do but only so much I can do right now.

I feel your pain. I have been considering the purchase of another skid mount, and maybe a box truck.

What are the specs on the machines you were running?

Hey Chris, The machines are both 4gpm-4000psi machines. Real god for residential work, Not so great for bigger commercial work which is what I would like to start directing more of attention. Residential just seems to be getting tougher and tougher.

Thanks, I was just wondering. I run a 13HP Honda, with a 4GPM @ 3,600PSI pump. I was doing the math in my head, and thought you had to be running similar equipment, given the fuel usage numbers. You just have to love a machine that only burns approximately 1/2 gallon of gas per hour, especially right now.

Thats exactly what it burns. Normally get 2--2.5hrs out of a full tank...

That's about what mine burns too, which equates to two or three KEC jobs per tank.

We have a 20 and a 24 HP, both running 8.g GPM.
They get around 7 hours on 6.5 gallons of gas.

Larry - You would have killed to have a 8.5 on this job. If you had 2 of them you probably would have been done on Saturday.
:)

Heck David,, We could have been done by lunch... LOL....That is exactly what I was thinking the whole time I was doing that Job David. :( Trust me those few pics I posted were only the tip of the iceburg. The other plaza they have that we did 3 months ago was started at 7:00 am and we finished @ 9:15 pm. A little less than this one but we still did it in one day. Of course it was in Feb, and nice and cool out. Makes a BIG difference!
