Looking at postcards. How does the mailing work on them if you do it yourself? It looks like to do bulk you have to get license and renew each year. http://postcalc.usps.com/Postcards.aspx that looks like there is a cheaper rate for postcards than the price of a stamp but how does that work. Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that prints and mails?

You do not need a license. Send EDDM Retail and use the proper indica and you can send up to 5000 per day without license.

How many do you wish to send?

To what list will your cards be sent?

If you do EDDM, your direct costs will be about thirty couple cents per piece. And then add in time for sorting and delivering to the post office.

You can have cards sent for as low as forty couple cents without touching them.

How big of a campaign do you have in mind?

You can send 5000 out to each zip code or post office per day at. 16 per piece. I usually do around 10-15,000 per every time I send them out. I just add it to my route for the day while doing estimates and other advertising.

If you only plan to send out 500 at a pop then do not expect a big return you may not even get a call. I figure you get 1-3 calls per every 1000 sent.

Well spoken.

Rates did increase last month. EDDM retail is now $.175.

Thanks tim. I haven't checked the site since last year around September. This is the second increase within a yr. We just have to budget for the increased cost. So figure 1750 now for postage on 10,000 pieces and another 6-700 in printing costs. Total cost is around 2400. I know companies that charge the same amount just for 2000 pieces. It only takes two hours to put everything together once the routes are picked.

So for every 10,000 pieces my cost is 25.5 cents to get them out. If I go to 20000 pieces the cost goes down to 23.75 cents per piece.

Every time we do a mailing we get about a weeks worth of work out of them then we go to our door hangers and yard signs.

Michael, is your postcard for roof cleaning, house washing, other services or a combination?

Thanks.
