Quick connect sticks Hard

I have a couple quick connects on the high pressure end that really stick. They are very difficult to get to release (No, they are not under pressure) I tried cleaning and no difference. Any ideas?

Thanks

Put a wire wheel to the male end. Get er wired up real good. Keep everything lubed up good. No WD40. Use teflon lubricant or lithium grease. If you dont have a wire wheel use plumbing mesh type pipe cleaning cloth. Make sure you fold it up and get all in the groove of the male end (the part that the qiuck connect ball bearing snap into). Guaranteed success!

On old...or brass...quick coupler plugs many times you'll see a ridge just below the groove the balls sit in. After pressurizing and depressurizing hundreds of times on possibly worn out o rings, the balls start to beat into the side of the groove, mushrooming it. Quick fix...take a file to it. Long term fix, replace the coupler and plug.

I use a pair of pliers on the male plug like a grinder geting off the little bur that is created from constant use. Honestly when they get bad I just replace both ends of the quick connects.

I would keep a file on the trailer and file down the ridge that forms on the stainless steel plugs.

Sometimes it is the o-ring that swells and makes the plug hard to release.

Sometimes the balls in the coupler start to stick, I have used motorcycle chain lube spray before and it worked good.

All good advice. I seem to have one sticking female end. I will check for any problems on the male ends thoug. I do have a wire wheel and small files I can add to the truck tool bag. What do you guys prefer stainless or brass connectors?

This what I do..

Just wondering what is the cheapest place anyone has found for quick connects?

I always bought imported stainless steel connects and then I tried brass. Quickly moved back to stainless. I go through too many brass fittings. Stainless last twice as long.

Where do you guys order? So far been going through Russ and Bob but was hoping for some bulk discounts.

If the coupler sticks the outer ring will sometimes get squished out of shape which will not allow it to move properly. if you have issues spinning it around that is a telltale sign it is misshapen.

I like the stainless plugs and brass couplers

Paul, I feel the same way and switched back to brass couplers as I didn't feel I was getting my money's worth out of SS ones. SS plugs...I definitely stick with!
