Reach How Much?

A question for you guys doing houses. How are you reaching the top of two or three stories. Are ladders, manlifts,or extension wands the most popular. It seems to me the 24ft ext wands i see would be hard to hold on to with the power of some of these machines. Some of the houses i have looked at you could not drive a manlift around cause of the land. ANY FEEDBACK?

If you use the proper chemical you will not have to use alot of pressure theirfore you can cut the pressure down. On a house its more about the volume than the pressure. I use a 24ft ext wand and I dont know what I would do without it. I find myself using it more than the shorter one because I can stand in one spot longer and wash fhus it speeds me up and I dont get as wet. :)

How do you turn the pressure down on a ext wand. I have a dual lance now and i can turn that down with the wand. How does the x-jet reach 40-45ft. Is that the nozzle that goes on the end of the wand with the tube coming out of it? I have a friend of mine that is a house painter and has 60 houses to be washed this summer. He said the houses have to be ultra clean.I am just trying to figure out the best way to go about it.

Jeff, The design of the X-Jet makes it reach that distance. You can see one on Glenn's website at www.pitchwitch.com. The best way to adjust the pressure down is to use oversized nozzles. You will have less pressure with the same flow of water that way. Give me a call and I can fax you a nozzle chart. I would post it if I knew how. As for the long wands you need to purchase a belt for that.

Reach?

I've used telescoping wands and the X-jet, still use them from time to time but not on every job.

I do everything old school - I know it takes me longer but I think the job comes out better. We use ladders, daul lance wand (48" on decks & 72" on house body) and brush all gutters. For cleaners we use New Again on wood, bleach and detergent for siding and butyl detergent for gutters.

I know alot of guys don't like using ladders and feel that they can clean a house just as good or better without them. That is great for them - I just havn't been able to "dial it in".

Hope this helps you. Tim

I cant speak for the Xjet because I have never used one. I do use an extension wand and I use oversized nozzles to lower the pressure. The thing about the Xjet I am not sure of would be shooting a stream up two stories on vinyl siding that may not have been put up so well. The water flow going up would tend to loosen or even remove a sheet. Also shooting water up would get water into those holes in the bottom of vinyl were the dust likes to collect man thats a pain :)
