Reclaiming water in the street curbs... tips anyone?

the soft silicone berm materials work nice on uneven surfaces like that they will conform better to the shape and fill in the small imperfections to prevent any water from going past.

They are quite durable if you tear them you can stick them back together and they will reseal themselves end to end. Price varies a bit based on length and height 10' runs $472 but there are other ones available as well.

Have you tried taking a 2" x 4" and placing it at the end of the driveway by the last control joint, then caulk along the bottom of the 2" x 4". Then place your wash water recovery tool in front of the 2" x 4". This is a fast easy and cheap way to keep the runoff off of the street. You might also consider a vacuuming surface cleaner. FYI pig sells form fitting damns but you can buy a ton of caulk for the cost of one form fitting damn.

An important note on the VacuBerm..
The VacuBerm was originally designed to suck a few gpm (2.5 to 3.5 gpm) of wash water
off of “rough surfaces” with a cheap shop vacuum. A detailer asked for it,
the week after we had designed the PEV1 system which gets it to about 4gpm.
By the end of that year, Fleet washers started using the VacuBerm with our PEV2
..the Dual motor version, in multiples of two 4 foot VacuBerms, capturing up to 4 gpm at each.
The fleet-washers and sidewalk guys inspired the upgrade to the 30 gl waste tank,
to allow for dual inlets, and a beefier auto-pump-out. BUT…
The VacuBerm’s original white sock was clogging too fast with debris,
as fleet-washing on un-swept parking lots became an issue…
we upgraded the sock and the fiber-filter-pad to larger mesh, to allow more silt through the berm,
thus, less clogging.. That works GREAT ! the bad news is,
it required a little more cfms to do the same job in lifting water on the extremely rough surfaces…
we started pushing the SandSnakes to lay on top of the VacuBerm,
to push it down against the surface for a better seal, thus sucking more water off the surface.
Anyone that has one of our original VacuBerms, that would like to try the new sock and FilterPad,
may have the upgrade FREE for the asking… Just answer a few feed-back questions, and we both benefit. Eh?
Back to the Berm…
Silt and sand is a challenge for the design which requires holes at the ground,
as opposed to the VacuBoom style, which has fewer but larger “slits” across the assembly…
But, the VacuBoom doesn’t work nearly as well on rough surfaces,
unless you can waste a BUNCH of cfms attaching it to a larger vacuum… But,
I have to tell you, we recommend our competition’s VacuBoom, on extremely flat surfaces
(like in plane-washing, or machine-shop projects,) with one of our SGV gas-engine systems…
even at hundreds of feet, it works great. But…
If you have water running in all directions, on rough torn-up asphalt,
like most of your applications out there, the VacuBerm can be hundreds of feet, in opposite directions
with minimal cfm’s, and are seriously abuseable.
The patented VacuBerm, is simplistic, rebuildable, reliable, low cost,
and works on MOST surfaces with MINIMAL vacuum…
a detailer can hook it up to a cheap shop-vac from Wal-Mart
and reclaim a few gpm for less than $300. … How hard does that hurt ?
Back to the silt & sand problem…
The VacuBerm is nicely refined now, with the larger mesh sock, and filter-pad,
but where you still have sand and silt, we’ve added a simple (inexpensive, cleanable,) SiltFilter
to lay in front of the VacuBerm.. This stops most sand and silt from getting to the VacuBerm..
it works sweet !
PuddleSucker” type widgets can suck up sand, silt and all,
…as long as you can corral the water in a curb, or low-spot…
Ours can do to 3/16” diameter debris with a shop-vac and get 6 to 8 gpm through it.
Our PEV2 can do to 30gpm with it, and one of our SGV’s.. up to 100gpm.
We believe that manufacturers have a responsibility to functionality, and value..
We will not leave anyone behind, on any service or warrantee issue, ever.
But we require an open line of communication. We need to know what the quirks, burps and farts are,
from the field, as they happen, so we can answer the silly questions first,
eliminate the downtime STAT, refine the “care and feeding” BMP’s next,
and “overcome the weakness” on the rest.
We will even help you troubleshoot our competitors’ equipment.
You all need to be profitable, and we want the referrals. Just like you. Eh?

Stay productive and profitable.. get performance for you dollars !
Call, or e-mail any question. we will never waste your time.

I just did a driveway yesterday. I have a Sirrocco vac system. Here is a pic of how I had it set up before I started washing. I did end up laying a sand snake on top of the boom to get it to pick up well. Once the snake was on the boom nothing went by it.

How many Siroccos you have?
