Rig Insurance

I am in the process of purchasing a trailer mounted HW rig, and have a question regarding insurance. Who insures a rig like this against theft/accidental damage? Your vehicle insurance provider? Your liability insurance? Are there separate policies for this type of equipment?

Thanks!

What you are looking for is inland marina insurance, which would run with you business insurance...

If you work out of your home, check your home owners, you may be covered???

When i worked out of my home and i still do too some extent. I had additional policy with my home owners for theft and damage.

Of course whne towing you will be covered by auto, additional money..

You will be amazed at what home owners can cover.

Bad advice. Almost always a homeowners policy will limit business personal property to $250. Period. One must use the I/M mentioned above to cover business chattel - either as an addendum to an existing policy, or as a stand-alone policy form. Expensive enough to make it unfeasible.

It was only 100.00 dollars for one year for my inland with the business insurance...

How much agg. are you guys carrying, I only went with 1,000,000 for total coverage on this....

I forgot to mention I have a 500.00 deductable on damage...

I am in the process of getting insurance setup for business and spoke with Joe. He is super guy and will give you more info then you can handle. Be ready to write down a lot of PW info if you’re new to this field.

Got 3 quotes on Liability and he was the lowest at approx 600.00/year for 500,000 with Nationwide coming in at 750.00/year for the same.

I am not in same situation as some guys on this board. Starting out very low out of back of truck w/ topper so no trailer needing to be covered. My equipment will be cover through Allstate on monthly commercial insurance which is surprisingly close to same cost as my person auto insurance was.

Mike - Let me know what you find out so I know in the future about Joe covering Florida and when I finally get a trailer

If you guys check out TAPCO, I think you'll find better rates and better coverage.

Water boy, I think that you are not realizing how a lot of us started out. I started out in the back of a pickup with no topper. Had to hand load the machine every day, along wiht the hoses and everything else that went with it. It was a real pain. I don't do that anymore.

Scott - I am sorry if it read that way.

I didn't mean to take away for anyone's hard work and say that I was in different class.

I was just stating that I am now starting up and that most guys on this board have already reached a more stable business, where they have high dollar heated pressure washers on the back of thier trailers.

John - Thanks for alternative. You got a number for them?

I have heard alot of talk about Joe Walters. I don't know him personally so I won't say anything bad. But... He is VERY expensive in relation to every (10) quote for insurance that I have gotten. I have noticed any company with less than 1 million liability won't even get looked at for commercial work. I start getting my quotes at that and start working up. Like I said, nothing against Joe, but I think he is very expensive for my area.
