Rinse or not to rinse.......

Im new to the roof cleaning and I'm reading alot on rinsing and not rinsing. My question is why do some rinse and some do not? What are those who are rinsing use to rinse? Those who aren't how do you explain it to the customers? I don't want to leave a customers unsatisfied or have to return to correct it.

I usually do not rinse the longer the product can sit and work the better. By explaining to the customer why you are not rinsing and how you will guarantee the results for a longer time that may ease their fears. In some cases they will want or need immediate results so then rinsing may be necessary (such as a home sale), then price accordingly for the extra work.

I'm starting to get calls from people who had there roofs cleaned by people who don't rinse up in the northern climates. In complete work and they don 't return.

We never rinse black streaked roofs but what about the roofs with fullblown algae growth. I cleaned one the other day that looked like a putting green. Do you guys rinse those or tell the customer that the next few rains will wash it all off

That's a different story. On these and those with heavy lichen growths I plan on making at least one return trip. Give it time to die and dry up, even then it may take a little low pressure to clean off.

What are you using to rinse when you say low pressure? What are y'all using? I spoke to Bob at pressure tek and he suggested only sh and water.

Mix in some Roof Snot. Will clean better with less runoff. Less runoff means less mix you have to use, and less bleach getting on the landscaping. Call Russ at Southside Equipment.

I do some serious mold ,algea problem roofs. Algea turns into a very hard surface witch doesn't allow a strong roof solution to reach the roots. Also algea is different to remove. It has to be taken off in layers .

Jim when you are working with algae how do you go about treating it and how do you adjust your mix?

Rinsing being sold against non rinsers is going pretty well at the moment and is picking up
momentum!Just picked up two huge ones against non rinsers and the customers were very well educated in roof jargon. Common since basically?

The non rinsers are causing havoc leaving those chems on the roof drying out those granulars making them loose decreasing the life of the shingle. Leaving a chemical on something decreases longevity promoting degradation. I call this shingle shedding produced by leaving bleach on a roof and not rinsing.

Just have some fun but something to think about?

Two ways to sell a job .

Jim, I ask this with love, a little Devil's Advocate: Do you have anything to back up the claim that leaving chemical, assuming youre talking about sh, will dry out granules?

I don't think he was serious Ed....just showing how a rinsing Could be sold.
