What a beautiful companion!

Sorry for your loss.

That is a nice looking dog.

Sorry about your loss.

I know how you feel, growing up we had dogs and they were like family and 1 lived 15 years and the mother lived 19 years, a very long time for a dog but we loved them and it was very, very hard on the whole family when each one died. The mother out-lived all her pups, she was the best dog in the world.

Just thinking about her and the pups gets me the wet eyes.

Try to be strong.

Sorry to hear about Jake Celeste. I am a huge animal Lover...It's never easy to say good bye. :sorry:

Sorry for your loss, a dog is about as loyal a companion you will ever have. Here is a great poem and where the term "Mans Best Friend" came from.

ONE MAN'S SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO A DOG

The one absolutely unselfish friend that
a man can have in this selfish world,
the one that never deserts him,
the one that never proves ungrateful
or treacherous, is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity
and in poverty,
in health and in sickness.
He will sleep on the cold ground where
the wintery winds blow,
and the snow drives fiercely,
if only he may be near his master's
side. He will kiss the hand that has no
food to offer, he will lick the sores
and wounds that come in encounter with
the roughness of the world. He guards
the sleep of his Pauper master as if he
were a prince.

When all other friends desert,
he remains.
When riches take wings and reputation
falls to pieces, he is as constant in
his love as the sun in it's journey
through the heavens.
If misfortune drives the master forth
an outcast in the world, friendless
and homeless, the faithful dog asks
no higher privilege than that of
accompanying him to guard against
danger, to fight against his enemies.

And when the last scene of all comes,
and death takes the master in it's
embrace, and his body is laid away in
the cold ground, no matter if all other
friends pursue their way, there by the
graveside will the noble dog be found,
his head between his paws, his eyes sad,
but open in alert watchfulness,
faithful and true, even in death.

-From a speech given by
Former Senator George Graham Vest
of Missouri. Delivered in 1870 when he
was acting as a lawyer in a suit against
a man who had killed the dog of his
client. -- He won the case

I'm already looking. My son is taking this very very hard - we've had Jake since he was about 16 months old so he doesn't remember any time in his life when Jake wasn't there. I'm just glad he held on these last few days - we had a really bad scare right before Adron's birthday (Dec 30th) I would have hated to lose him on his birthday. I don't think it has hit me yet really. Sort of numb.

Very sorry to hear about your dog.

We are nursing an old Lab through what will probably be his last winter. I've always said the only thing I don't like about dogs is they don't live long enough.

Hey Celeste, Im so Sorry to hear about Jake. Jake was a really amazing dog. One of the reasons why Matt and I got our Boxer Laila, and now our other boxer Blizzard.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Celeste, all I can say is I am sorry for your loss, and that is at best insignificant.

I truly hope that 2010 is a better year for you personally, it seems that you have had to shoulder more than one should have too last year.

If you ever feel like you just need to get anything off your shoulders and just vent, please feel free to give me a call. The guys are great, but sometimes we could use a sympathetic ear that understands how much a working mother goes through on a regular day, let alone the crazy year that you seem to have had.

Take care,
