Roof Cleaning Franchises ?

Yes, most likely, because if the roof is sprayed every year with an algae preventer, it will stay clean forever!
There are several things that can be used to spray a roof to prevent algae from growing on it.

I wonder how they make money offering a lifetime guarantee? If they have to come back to retreat the roof with anything once a year, then I imagine the homeowners would have to take some kind of yearly maintenance fee.

I've considered selling my pressure washers and just you doing soft wash cleaning, but then that leaves way too much money on the table if I can't wash concrete.

I know their roof cleaning franchises have been generating quite a bit of interest Josh. Bob from Ugly Shingles is a Michigan Licensed Master Builder, he builds Million Dollar Homes. So, it is "child's play" for him to make the equipment for a Softwash System.
He builds his own skids out of aluminum and stainless steel, for his roof cleaning franchises.

They must charge enough for the roof cleaning initially, or have a recurring yearly maintenance plan, to offer a lifetime warranty.

You've got it backwards

You've got it backwards
Everyone runs their business the way they feel makes them the most money. We do not solicit, or go after any other residential or commercial cleaning, besides the roofs.
Of course, if asked, we will clean the house, screen room, etc, etc, but I guess what I am trying to say is this. Normally, we have so much good paying roof cleaning work, why take on time consuming, and lower paying exterior cleaning ?

Normally, I farm that out to friends who pressure wash, and do not clean roofs. They, in return, send us roofs to clean. This has worked for us nearly 15 years.

It takes ALLOT to start a franchise organization. There is federal licensing and other items that need to be in place. One thing a organization must have in place to legally offer franchises is a Uniform Franchise Offering Circular or UFOC. They must be able to give you one of these on demand if you are interested in looking at their business opportunity / franchise. Many will have you sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before giving you a UFOC. When I owned Mallard Systems we did all we needed to do to sell franchises back in 1999. It wasn't successful. However along with the UFOC you have to have an Operations Manual, Training materials and more to offer. Here is a pic of our stuff from 1999.

Speaking of Mallard Systems, and roof cleaning franchises, here is an alternative, and a great deal for someone!
http://roof-cleaning-institute.acti...roof-cleaning-skid-for-sale-by-al-lockyer-sr/
Al Lockyer Sr is selling a turn key roof cleaning business opportunity, complete with a unique skid he designed, website, truck, and all training needed, because of health reasons.
Al Lockyer Sr was co owner, and the founder of the Orlando home improvement company that became Mallard Systems .
Al Lockyer Sr had several successful service businesses, long before Mallard Systems ever came into existence.

I always wondered HOW Mallard Systems came to be, and if he "really invented" the whole softwashing or non pressure roof cleaning concept.
Here is what Al Lockyer Sr told me, about how Mallard Systems came to be.

He told me he sent his Son to College in Texas. One day, his Son called him from Texas, and said he had met a girl there, and wanted to come back home, marry her, and start a business with his Dad.
Al Lockyer Sr told me he watched a pressure washing guy clean a roof, using a pump sprayer, filled with chlorine and water.
The pressure washer made the mistake of telling Al Lockyer Sr, what was in the pump up sprayer!

So, when his son came home from College in Texas, with his wife to be, A roof cleaning company was born (Mallard Systems), all because an Orlando Pressure Washer revealed his secrets!

The Father and Son team of the Lockyer's of course, took the secrets the pressure washer with the pump us sprayer revealed, to a whole new level.

But, had it not been for Al Lockyer Sr, who told his Son what he had learned about non pressure roof cleaning from a pressure washing guy doing his neighbors roof, there would never had been a Mallard Systems.

Who is Bob is that Steves Father? Steve is the one making the skids. He is about 25 or 30 maybe. There is no way Steve is a master builder. Lots of BS with this crew.

You've got it backwards

What do I have backwards? I need to get rid of my roof pump and concentrate on pressure washing? I know that's not true. Roof cleaning is the most profitable thing I do. I would love to be so busy with proofs that I don't have time to pressure washing at all though. But right now while I'm trying to do everything I can to get business it doesn't make sense to have to turn down an extra hundred dollars or so to wash a driveway. Not to mention throwing in a house wash & driveway package deal it's usually how I sell a roof clean. Seems like people are not so quick to jump on a $400 roof cleaning. But if I tell them the roof is $400, the house is $200, and the driveway $100 which comes to a total of $700, and I tell them if they get it all done at once I will give them a package deal of $550, they usually go with that.

Actually Chris it was the family painter Ray that was painting our family home. He PRESSURE WASHED the roof and it looked great. I had called my dad from a pay phone on my way moving back home and dad told me about the GREAT idea about roof cleaning as a business. I USED MY DEGREE IN HORTICULTURE AND MY SEVEN YEARS IN THE NURSERY INDUSTRY TO DEVELOP THE CHEMICALS AND EQUIPMENT FOR MALLARD SYSTEMS. There was no guy with a pump up sprayer!

I invented the Mallard System. I am creative and good at marketing, system development and equipment. Dad was good at running a business and had a huge amount of wisdom. I was 25 years old when he came into the business and we began to run Mallard together. Those were great days and things have changed.

Ill ask you nicely Chris to stop bringing my family into your delusional world.

Thanks Ron!

Many times people confuse franchises with "business opportunities".

A franchise requires ongoing support, allows for ongoing fees and requires the UFOC. In most cases you will be required to have one or more operations already going and the books will have to be completely open. You have to be licensed in all 50 states. It is very expensive. Ours cost almost $140k just to get the legal work done in all 50 states and we did everything on the cheap.

A business opportunity or "Bizop" is an alternative to franchising. There are fewer requirements, but more restrictions. A bizop does not allow for ANY ongoing fees. You can charge as much as you want up front and you don't even have to show proof of concept in most cases. It is cheaper to get legal and you only have to get licenses in the states you plan on selling in so you can move more slowly. Ours started as a Bizop and converted to Franchise. We only became licensed in the states we targeted. Still, it cost us almost 30k with California being the hardest to get going in. With a Bizop you can put together a package that includes training and wares (skids, trucks, advertising, signage, etc) and sell it for whatever price you can get. After that, the only way you can legally make money is if the new business continues to buy your skids, trucks advertising, signage, etc. BUT you cannot require them to buy them from YOU. They can legally go to Kinkos and bypass you and you will get zero ongoing royalties or fees.

Combine that with the fact that the company might start failing because they cut off ties with you, yet they are still running around with your name, and that is why we switched from Bizop to Franchise.....so that we could control the use of our name and keep it synonymous with success.
