Rookie Question About Paul's Twin Pump System

Finally got around to hooking up Paul's twin pump roof cleaning system today as we have our first roof cleaning tomorrow. Do I want to run both pumps at the same time or use one for applying chemicals and one as a transfer/back up pump?

I don't have one of the dual pump set ups from the power wash store but I built one very very similar and to my needs. One for applying and one for transfer, if one goes down 2 clicks of cam locks and Im rocking and rolling again if need be. My main application pump (fatboy) reaches average 40 - 52 feet depending on the wind. I do have a question though, I have heard of people syncing 2 pumps together for double the flow and distance, Is that really necessary?

I would not link them unless you are just looking to move a lot of product. If you link them to apply you need larger hose nozzles and a ball valve instead of a gun. There is a lot of restriction caused when you combine that much volume with the smaller hose and it will cause the pumps to cycle a lot.
