Hi all,
Rick here from Northern NJ.
I've been lurking for a while and figured it's about time to show my face.
How did I get here? Well I was layed off in October and have been actively searching for a new opportunity in the IT world (27 year career). Problem is the higher up you are the longer it takes. Needless to say much soul searching has gone on and, being an entrepreneur at heart, I think now is the time to make a move to being a full time business owner. I've researched the best of my ideas and Roof Cleaning seems to be the best route at this point.
My research has been quite enlightening. I started with google and initially gained most of my knowledge from businesses selling sodium percarbonate based products. I learned little about technique and figured that I'd be up on every roof with a pressure washer to rinse the cleaner. Luckily I decided to look up industry specific forums and stumbled upon this one. (I did look at others)
Wow, what a rich source of info contained here! I have to thank Chris, Russ, Mike and others for being so open and willing to share information.
Currently I'm deciding on what to include in my first pumping rig. Being very low on funds I have a budget that's pretty tight. I'm hoping I can utilize a 4 x 4 trailer to install a tank (150 gal), single or twin 5800 series Delavan pumps and a hose reel. Your feedback is greatly appreciated on this approach.
I've been working on a few marketing ideas and have secured a few business names as well as domains to match. I also made a simple logo to go along with the top name.
I may be in luck regarding chemicals as friend is a major contractor for the state and he believes he can get me whatever I need at low cost. Another friend is a senior chemist for one of the largest Pharmaceutical companys in the world....could be interesting if I can get him to develop an effective, safe to use and plant friendly cleaner recipe.
So, I'll spare everyone the loads of questions I have and initiate individual threads on the subject.
Hope to share as much info as possible in return.
