Rust In Water Tank

Anyone have any idea how to get rust stains off of plastic water tank. I happen to wash a house this week and let my water tank fill up. I looked at it today and the water was brown so I let it all drain out and now the interior walls of the water tank our stained w/ rust. Does not look good going down the road.

It happens all the time when you use well water. I spray a little oxalic acid on the inside walls and it clears right-up. You might want to drain/rinse the tank afterward as the acid will "sour" the water that's still in the tank.

Great choice. It is also what I use to clean out my recovery tanks. Boy do they get fouled up something fierce with stains. Just use the oxalic acid with precautions. Do not put your face near the tank while you clean out. Even with the mask on that you should be wearing, along with rubber gloves and suit. Just keep it off your skin and out of your eyes also.
