Scared of CEDAR SHAKE!!

Got this Roof needs cleaned above the garage only. I haven't touched a cedar roof before. Do I need to get on it and use some pressure or can I softwash it just to.get algae off? Told owner it may lighten shade of the roof fr at least a yr...owner says roof is only 4 yrs old and was over $30k...its ugly I'd say. Any tips guys. Only expectation I need to fulfill is removing the algae its on both sides.of this garage.

Riley, use a week roof cleaning mix. I would try 30% sh 70% water with whatever surfactant you normally use.
Spray the roof in sections and rinse with a garden hose as you go. Don't let the mix sit up there till the next rain. Depending on whatever type of roof cleaning setup you have you should not have any problems shooting that from a ladder and you wont have to walk it. Depending on what the customer is willing to pay, this will be the cheapest way. Other methods such as using sodium percarbinate followed by rinsing and then brightening /neutralizing with oxalic or a citrus acid is another method and probably better for the wood but I would charge a bit more for that.

Thanks for the tips Larry I had saw your comments during breakfast and got the roof knocked before we topped 100deg lol yes guys that's hot here. Turned out decent I appeased short term plans for now. A year or two well do a full wash n seal.. HO can't fathom doing it so soon after paying big money for the roof. I was able to shoot from the ground.. the roof comes low you couldn't pull a truck in. Hangs down the back too. Can't wait to come back to do the whole thing I like them invoices. Good job though guy tips me $40, a housewash for his daughter prepaid... about to close on 100ksqft commercial building wants all cleaned fn A right .thanks!! See looks decent

Good deal. Roof looks a lot better than it did. Cedar Shake roof cleaning can be a bit tricky sometimes. Im glad it worked out for you.

Yeah man, looks pretty good, but could have looked amazing with the percarb and a brightening/neutralization. Here's the rub though, cedar can turn gray within 30 days of cleaning it, so if he didn't seal it, it would be a waste. As long as you have him locked in to sealing it in the future, you're good to go. It will look 100x better completely restored and sealed, but the cleaning looks great none the less.
