Slate Roof! Uncleanable?

Hate to say it but your wrong mr. tucker.

asbestos on left, slate on right. NEITHER required alcohol...until payday and it wasn't the rubbing kind.
LOL Gary ... I meant I don't WANT to clean Asbestos :)
My Lungs are bad enough already ;)

I'm pretty sure asbestos is safe as long as you're not "working" it up.
Removing it would be a different story than cleaning it. Anytime there can be particles floating is I think when there are issues.

Jeff
Thank GOD here in Florida only one in a million roofs is Asbestos ?
I REFUSE to clean them Jeff.
They are Long Lasting roofs I can say that

Love that Alcohol on Payday Gary:)
Hey just so people understand - you use Sodium Hydroxide AND Pressure to clean with - Correct ?

What kind of special precautions should you take when cleaning an asbestos roof?

Those pictures look great

Thanks Scott.

Precautions taken...had owner clean up the dog dooty...

I applied my roof chemical mix from the ground with my trusty xjet, allowed to dwell and rinsed thoroughly from ground with my low pressure rinsing device. (insurance company approved)

Sorry Chris, thought you were implying they can't be cleaned.

Yes Sodium Hydroxide is one of the ingredients in the roof mix.

I think that was your problem right there, the x-jet.. they are great for housewashing, however cannot deliver the correct concentration for roof cleaning.. you said you tried 5 and 8 percent.. which would mean in a 100 gallon mix you only added 8 gallons of sh? For a 100 gallon mix you would need anywhere from 20-30 gallons of sh.. So more like 20-30%.. unless I totally misread the thread of what your problem was..
