Starting new organization

New organization forming around the pressure cleaning community.

This thread should and will not be about what other have not done but what you as a cleaner would like to see in and organization.

Delco started a distributor contract cleaner meets. (Along with cert. and education)

Russell started a Wood restoration group that educates cleaner on wood restoration and will also contract work.

PWNA exist to cert. and educate cleaners. (Attempting to have contract programs)

What would you like to see changed or done differently.

1. Do you want and organization to assist you in finding work?
2. Do you care about buying power programs?
3. Is certification important to you?
4. Do want more government representation?
5. Are conventions a necessary need?
6. Would better communication be a plus?

I’m sure there are many more questions that need to be discussed.

Please no bashing, what the in the past is done and we have and opportunity for the future.

Ad to the list of what you would like to see in and organization and what can these new ones do to stay positive and help the industry.

Cooperation and open communications between all the organization and others not listed. I know there are many folks who have different opinions on organizations as a whole and what their roles are. My position is simple, any person or organization that is productive, positive, and is helping move the industry forward is a plus. I am sure some will have benefits that others do not and some will be better fits for different people. In the long run I hope that it continues to bring attention to our industry and adds respectability for all of us. If that leads to us all making more money for the decks, houses, hoods, houses, etc. that we clean then I am all for it!

I need to be able to see a return on my investment of joining. Whether it is $100 or $500 I need to see that money come back to me. It also needs localized chapters. Not everybody can or wants to travel to another state to attend a convention and meet other members.

I used manage an oil/lube facility. One of our main competitors had a certification program that they put on their employees shirts. It was an in house certification that meant nothing except the employee read a pamphlet and passed a test. This is the downfall to certifying your own members. It does not hold a lot of weight outside of your org.

It boils down to public/customer awareness.

The Money comes back thru marketing and thru networking with some of the more successful people in this industry. It also comes back thru Job leads that you may get from networking with these people. For Example this year alone I got 4 jobs thru my PWNA membership and one of those being a job that paid about $5000...BUT..its like anything else when it comes to ORGS...If you put nothing into it as in effort then you will most likely get nothing back. This is one of the points that I learned which caused me to become more active with the PWNA

Good point about being involved, it does make a difference.

I dont agree with that, professional people are always looking for those keeping up on education. If anything else it show continuing education and customers do care.

I have never had anyone ask me if i'm a member of the PWNA. although having myself never used the Logo to full potential is only my fault.

I do how ever use my other affiliation and such to market and i do know srories of others like John who have put the purple logo to work.

I currently have my own education program that i show customers and others with interest and I'm probably one of the few who has don this for himself.

I was hoping that those posting rather than saying what the PWNA is not doing could lend a hand of advice on solving issues in this thread rather than just chopping away at the same old stuff.

I realiza that the PWNA or any orgs is not perfect and probably will never fullfill all needs. Lets talk about what they can do and offer sollutions....

hears one,,,,,,,, have a dvd for educating customers that can only be used by PWNA members. telling the customers the benifits of using a member or certified contractor. WOW..... that a biggie. separate the rest of the industry and build and awareness that folk with on going education are dangerous.
