Here at PWI our distributors respect each other and do not step on Toes. Its pretty much a Classless act when you stomp on someones thread trying to help others find safe great products.

Now we all know that straight derivatives of these chems might clean stronger fast hurt us and cause Damage and sometimes fatalities. This is why store labeled Chems are safer with more Technology and thought put into making them safe for us our customers and employees.

I do not Point this out to bully Matt Johnson but to warn all those New Guys out there wondering about using HF I caution you because we have had people in our industry Die.

Thanks Craig for Building a Safe Restoration product that Packs a bunch but I my employees and others will return home to see our families each night Safe.

This is why we Need a Strong association to Educate Distributors like Matt Johnson about the Dangers of HF , Our industry is full of new people like this who want to claim they know it instead of getting the proper education.

Yes I'm president of the UAMCC and I'm tired of seeing contractors friends get hurt or die.

My apology to Matt if he is Just not aware HF Kills People

In the 8 years I have been in business I can honestly say I have never used caustic soda or oxalic acid. There are great products out there like F9 and EBC that work just as well on stuff or even better. They aren't as cheap as using the other stuff but having the since of safety is knowing you won't get burned by these chemicals is priceless.

Not to mention, you can show the customer exactly what you're using and don't get asked a bunch of questions either. I even show them the bottles at times.

3 calls today for Fertilize rust Stain Removal. All 3 found me on the F9 site. 2 I sold. The other I purposely over bid because a friendly competitor texted me to let me know what he bid. Hopefully he gets that one.

Nuff Said?...

HF doesn't have a Site? LOL Nor would they be stupid enough to recommend it!!!

There is rumors that by 2016 there may not be any hf for our industry so then all these acid blends can just keep going through the roof s far as price.Maybe by then they can go to $100 bucks a gallon that would be cool.

HF will be replaced by ammonium biflouride most likely. Not sure if one evil is better than the other if in the wrong hands! There's some new product I will be releasing that will with any luck be an excellent replacement for many toxic products out there. The first one will be.......... :)

And you doing that for a fellow PW is just one of the reasons I and others respect you. Good job Doug!

Ha Ha Mike I agree 100 percent of the dangers of using this product as a raw material. There is much confusion on hf.When it gets to the contractor this stuff is in a product that has been blended with several products some acting as buffers to the hf.So when used correctly per the instructions on the label there is nothing that works like a product with hf in it.The finished product with hf is usually pretty cheap and very effective.I agree 100 percent on the dangers an Mike i agree with you on the ammonuim bifloride.I can belive someone would tell a new contractor that hf isnt dangerous. Its kinda like letting a 10 year old drive with teaching them first.

I have seen where people died from breathing in concentrated HF Acid, it is a very dangerous thing to deal with.

I cannot believe that someone suggested it without telling the dangers of it along with talking about how to use it safely.

That product can kill people if not used correctly.

To even suggest using that product without talking about how dangerous it is, is not very professional, responsible or considerate to say the least. What if someone used it as per someone's recommendation and got seriously hurt? I can see lots of legal issues there along with a convoy of ambulance chasing attorneys jumping at the chance of handling that case.

I dont know how a new contractor would be sold hf in its raw material for such as its sold in.When i was picking up from univar just to leave there with it you had to take a 30 min saftey class on the dangers of it.A drum of 49 percent of hf is around 600-800 dollars depending on where you get it.I just dont see a new contractor walking up to univar a wanting a drum like that.Heck its very deadly and dangerous when my buddy mixes it he looks like those men on ET.

Most blends have about 9-12% in it and you can only get 49% since 9/11. I've had a product that had 17% in it and it was disgusting to even look at! It can be your best friend or your worst enemy and knowledge is key like with any product out there.

Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is a solution of hydrogen fluoride in water. It is a valued source of fluorine and is a precursor to numerous pharmaceuticals such as fluoxetine (Prozac) and diverse materials such as PTFE (Teflon).
Hydrofluoric acid is a highly corrosive acid, capable of dissolving many materials, especially oxides. Its ability to dissolve glass has been known since the 17th century, even before hydrofluoric acid had been prepared in large quantities by Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1771.[SUP][2][/SUP] Because of its high reactivity toward glass and moderate reactivity toward many metals, hydrofluoric acid is usually stored in plastic containers (although PTFE is slightly permeable to it).[SUP][3][/SUP]
Hydrogen fluoride gas is an acute poison that may immediately and permanently damage lungs and the corneas of the eyes. Aqueous hydrofluoric acid is a contact-poison with the potential for deep, initially painless burns and ensuing tissue death. By interfering with body calcium metabolism, the concentrated acid may also cause systemic toxicity and eventual cardiac arrest and fatality, after contact with as little as 160 cm[SUP]2[/SUP] (25 square inches) of skin.

Those that have known me for a while will tell you my views on this product. I have said many times in the past it will take a 30 minute conversation before I made the decision to sell this product to someone. I also mentioned in a post yesterday I DO NOT RECOMMEND BACKYARD CHEMISTRY! The products I have are formulated to perform. I believe in teaching the proper ways to clean so there is no need to cut corners by playing chemist. Reducing your cleaning time will make you money and you will find that is the best way to be cost effective.

+100 on that.

I will add that not only reducing your cleaning time will make you money but 'cleaning effectively at the same time will make you money.
