I currently have a Simpson Cold Water Machine 3000PSI, along with the Simpson Surface Cleaner(Hoover Style). They are both 4 years old. This is the only experience I have had with a Surface Cleaner so I really dont have anything to compare it to. The model I tried and even the one I bought always cleans much better on the edges, and requires quite a bit of touch up work. My question, do surface cleaners function well with cold water? Also I am considering buying a 3500PSI Cold Water from Delco, will the additionl pressure make a big difference with the surface cleaner.

I also have a few questions about a surface cleaner. i have a 4gpm 3000 psi cold water unit also. I was looking to find the ideal surface cleaner to use with 4 gpm up to 6 gpm please help.
1. What kind of surface cleaner do you guys prefer?
2. in relation to gallons per minute what size do you guys use?
3. how much did you pay?
4. Do the bigger ones clean slower?
What do you think of the 28" Whisper wash?

I HAVE NOTHING BUT HOT WATER UNITS OCASIONALLY THE HEAT WILL GO OUT. ITS BEEN EXPERIENCE THAT THEY DONT WORK VERY WELL WITH COLD WATER. THE LAST ONE I BOUGHT WAS A SIDEWINDER EVERYONE LIKES THIS ONE THE BEST. SHY AWAY FROM ANYTHING BIGGER THAN 18". JUST MY TWO CENTS

Not sure why John says stay away from the bigger ones however I use the 28" Big Guy with no problem.
Now I clean concrete and I want to cover as much area as I can with the least amount of walking.
I think the best way to look at it just what you plan to use it for.
There is a need for all sizes in this business, I am not baised but have not tried any other brand yet.
For the larger sizes you need at least 5 GPM/3000 PSI and to run the ones with a 3 bar spinner you need more of both from what I have been told.
Is money going to be a factor in buying? if not I think I would try the Landa water jet. That is what a few of the others recommend.
Not all mind you but a few who have them.

I have a 30 inch steel eagle w/2 bars. I have had it for over a year and it has worked great both with hot and cold. If I were to buy another surface cleaner I would buy another 30 inch steal eagle but with 3 bars. I have not had a problem with this unit being too big at all. I do just about every type of job and the only problem is the amount of spray that exits all around the machine. I am going to put some kind of rubber lining on the outside of one side of the machine to limit the spray to one side and the front. Hope it helps..

Surface cleaners work well with both Hot and Cold machines.
I have a 30" Elite Surface cleaner which I bought from Delco a few years back and i pretty much use this machine with my Hot water Landa Powerwasher.
I also have a 24" whirl-a-way surface cleaner that I use with my cold water PW's.
Both of these surface cleaners are great.
As far as extra PSI I would look for a machine with at least 5gpm at 3000psi. I have a 4000psi PW which I wish was only 3000psi but with more then 4gpm,
If you buy from Delco then you may want to also possibly purchase there Surface cleaner also.

Keep in mind Gentlemen, that your surface cleaning diameter is two inches less then the body diameter, ie; 18'' is really cleaning 16'' in diameter.
I use a 18'' & a 28" surface cleaner. The 18'' is doing a tired dance and I am now shopping for a 24'' triple nozzle.

It’s simply physics about the smaller machines. At 6 gallons a minute at 3500psi that monster you use will only move slower than an 18 inch cleaner. There fore your not actually cleaning any surface faster. When and if you had a larger machine or used two machines to move that monster then I could see the benefits. Using one 4 gallon a min cold washer I would definitely stick with a small rotation.

I will ask questions about machine compatibility on that triple nozzle surface cleaner and it does stand to reason of what you said in regards to water output and power.
I also second the motion on the "big Guy" model surface cleaner. It is Slow........... for a 3000psi @ 5gpm. I wonder if 500 additional
psi would speed it up? I haven't hooked up my Landa to it yet.

I use the 28in Big Guy also, like Jon. My machine is a 18hp honda with the 5.6 gpm Gen. pump. Works like a charm, as long as you feed it enough water. It can be too strong for new concrete, it will take off the top layer easily if you are not careful. Two nozzle system? , not sure how the two bar system works out. Any stripping (sp) issues with the two bars? Cold water and chlorine will handle any driveway in FL. Good luck. Jim T.
