surface cleaners

I just purchased a hot water mi-ti-m pressure washer 5gpm 3500psi.My question is will this washer combined with a quality surface cleaner remove gum and oil stains from concrete?I am new to the trade and i see a big need for this type of cleaning in my area.If there is a chemical you put down first as a pre-treat what is working out there! Any reply is appreciated thanks

HI Jeff. I Have rented that machine before, Your Machine should work fine. (Read others post on Landa water jets!) I know there are other quality surface cleaners also available. We use Hot Water first then Degreasers, Sodium Hydroxide based cleaners only when hot water won't remove stains. Remember you must not let run off water enter the ground or storm sewers. You have to have means to capture your water.

Jeff,

Will not get into a lot of how to do here but to remove gum use a 15° nozzle for gum popping after you surface clean the concrete.

One thing, it takes practice to not get zebra stripes so watch out there, a truly nice job can be ruined with them and when starting out it doe happen. That is why I say use the 15° and not a zero tip.

Pop gum and rinse at the same time is how I finish up jobs.

Bigboy,

i have never even seen a 5 degree tip. i will order one and try it, maybe to much for the weak conctrete we have in arizona.

JEFF,

surface cleaners wont remove gum no matter what chemical you use.

Scott,

he Need to check local regulations, may or may not require pick up of water. there is a site posted in the links section under epa that could direct him to his city regulations. Good advice

Landa Surface cleaners are #1 With out any dispute LOL

Landa

I am with Ron Landa Jet Wash is the best!!!!:D

Like Steven said a turbo tip is great to get gum off fast. I use it if there is tons of gum works wonders. I can not say it enough be very very careful if and when you use that tip. Very Powerful!!!!!!!

Be careful and have fun washing!:D

Good luck!! I hope you enjoy the biz.:D

Hey Jeff, I have to agree with the guys about the surface cleaner followed up by the turbo nozzle it works wonders. After removing the gum you will probably want to spray a little mineral spirits where the gum was to remove the shadow left behind, you may not see a shadow when wet but when it dries it will magically reappear!

As for chemicals haven't seen any that work on gum. The oil though, I myself have ordered a container of Pave Clean so I can see for myself how it will work and hold up. I will let everyone know how it works and post before and after photos of my own.

i reccomend anyone else out there with a few extra bucks order a container for themselves and see it first hand. If it works it will have definetly been worth it and if it doesn't you will know for yourself without great expense. It's better than going by someone elses opinion, I have seen many opinions coming from both sides the only way I will truly know is to try it for myself.

Best of Luck, Andrew:cool:

I agree with you guys bout the buzz saw (turbo),it works wonders.I do not do flatwork but use that buzz saw on alot of things will atleast I used to use it all time when doing farm eqt. or muddy, greasey trucks but have found that the 5 and 10 degree tips works even more wonders.I hardly ever pull dat buzz saw out nomore b/c its to slow hahaha, hey I could be wrong tho, have been before, will more than half of my life has been wrong, jumps tract altime, always sex on the brain, never know if I coming or going, always wet and muddy but I thinky you need to atleast just try the 5 or 10 before ya tear off three or four fingers with dat buzz saw.

HA HA

Thanks Bigboy, I got a good laugh out of your post but a little education to I guess I wil have to try out those 5 and 10 degree tips thanks.

Is there a particular pattern that is better than another when running the surface cleaner? left to right, front to back etc. I have noticed that when I overlap a little too much that I can leave a stripe (cleaner area) where it overlaps... How do you guys combat this or is it my surface cleaner?
