Switching my pump out for more GPM

I hope that I'm posting this in the right area.

We currently have a MiTM set up. 3500 PSI, 5 GPM, heat to 270 and the engine is a Honda 660CC (I have no idea what kind of HP this translates to).

Anyways, I would like to move up in GPM, likely to an 8.

Who here would know if this is possible without getting a whole new set up?

Thank you!

I beleive thats a 21hp motor.
One formula is:
hp * 1100 = psi * gpm

So swapping with an 8 gpm pump will yeild around 2800-2900 psi. Since your running hot water in the 270 deg. range, that may change. (Lower). Usually when upsizing a pump, the pressure is the only thing compromised.

This is a starting point.

The 660 is a 21 HP Engine

Here are a few options:

7.0 @ 3300

8.5 @ 2700

10.0 @ 2300

12.0 @ 1900

Call Paul at 1-800-346-4876. He can explain the transfer of pumps. It is really easy. Good luck.

You can switch out pumps no problem. but jumping 3 gpm your burner will not get hot enough unless you do some modifications . 8 gpm is tough for a small frame burner to handle you would do better to only jump to 6 or 7 gpm. Then a simple burner nozzle change could keep your heat where it needs to be.

Whats the reason you want to change pumps?
It might not be worth it to go up 1-2 gpm. plus dont forget the pressure drops involved with longer hoses. think it out. good luck

Thanks for the info guys, I guess we're better off to buy a new one:(
I don't want to compromise my PSI or heat when I do this. I'll think I'll purchase out of the US this time though, way better pricing!

I wanted more GPM to begin with, however my husband was concerned about water as we are more often than not carrying our own. Our equipment supplier then backed him up, considering I was the only one who didn't know anything about PW'ing, I lost the battle.

Live and learn right?

Are you just wanting more gpm's by changing around the rig or could you use the second rig besides the rig you have?

Running 2 rigs sometimes you have the water supply issues but you can run longer with 2 of the 5gpm machines than you can with the 5 and 8gpm machines.

Will this be for flatwork, fleet washing or everything?

Maybe just adding another hot water rig will solve some issues you are having.

You can always rig up the "T" to connect 2 rigs together to run larger surface cleaners for those larger parking lots.

Look at the O-ring thread, there is a picture of plumbing so you can connect 2 machines together or run them separately, he did a good job plumbing them together. If you don't want to do the plumbing then you can just get the fittings and have the jumper hoses on the truck/trailer to connect the 2 machines when needed.
