Just in case you guys didn't know Envirospec has added this to their web site(www.envirospec.com). It is pretty detailed and I have found some good info there. It is located at the top right corner of their home page. It is also free.

i looked up water tank supply.
They say
1] if you have a 250 gal tank
2] a 4.5 gpm pump
3] a 4.0 water supply to feed the tank
you would only get 1 hr and 44 min of wash time before your out of water.
Would'nt you get 500 min of wash time?
With stops and starts, Would'nt it last all day?

MIKE, "i think i agree" you thinking of running for office? lol-just busting chopps
Just goes to show you that these posts, and some info, are just GUIDES. Not gospel.

Hmmmm. get to use a math skill.....

I get the same minutes as Ron P. (500) That's a little over 8 hours before you drain the tank. Anyone ever held the trigger for 8 hours straight?

I think I agree with Mike thinking he agrees with Ron P.

:D

Ron,
The math is correct! I think what you are missing is it takes 55 minutes to empty the tank at 4.5 gpm pump flow. The tank will take 62 minutes to refill at 4.0 gpm. You are pulling it out faster than you can refill!

You are correct that this calculation is based on constant running time which may not be real world all of the time. But please understand this is worse case scenario math.

I think that you wouldnt run into this problem with most municipal water supplies. We get about 8.0 gpm out of the tap here.

I stand behind the statement that the e.spec technical library contains very useful info. for people in our field. This site and others also do it equally as well.

the way i read it was
have a filled 250 gal. tank
have a hose supplying 4.0 gpm filling the tank at the same time you are useing the supply with a 4.5 gpm wash unit.
So the tank is suplimenting .5 gpm.
That would give you 500 min of wash time and with starts and stops, it should last all day.
Maybe i read it wrong. Take a look for yourself.
YES THE SITE IS HELPFULL, But the first thing I looked at seem's wrong to me. That's all.
I use E-SPECS stuff all the time.
I am not looking for a fight just that this one thing is one of the first things people will look at in setting up a wash rig.

E-SPECS quote
in a situation where you have a 250 gal. tank, with a 4.5 gpm pump, if your water source provides 4.0 gal to the tank, then you will have 1 hour 44 min before you run out of water.
I still say this is uncorrect.
I also believe that anything put in a tech. section of a site like e-specs should be double checked.
