The crazy burner prob ( check this out )

Ok I am out cleaning .. and the burner stayed on after I let off the wand .. nothing killed it , not the thermostat, not the flow switch and not the high limit switch... guess what I unplugged the solonoid valve wire and it still kept burning ... Took the solonoid valve apart and cleaned it and now back on and that fixed it.. it was the solonoid.. So answer me this can I tie the thermostat or high limit switch into the main hot wire like a switch to just shut down the whole crap if this ever happens again.. Pretty scary stuff... I almost blew my coil up ... Let me know..,

flow switch should cut it off

Flow switch will probably do it .. but it really is supposed too just break the connection of the solonid..... I was thinking more in the line of the high limit switch.. Just straight out break the connection going to the transformer blower motor, solonoid pump and all.. Because in my case if the solonold sticks open and nothing will shut it off , if I would have been on the roof , I may as well have kissed my coil and my wallet goodbye...

A flow switch will control it, but you've got to run it through a relay. The flow switch won't handle the amperage.

Re: Crazy Burner Problem

If you decide to create/replace/re-wire the protective control circuit, use a relay that is set up in the Normally Closed position for the operation of the burner/blower. This way if the relay itself should fail (relay coil go bad) it won't shut you down. Use a plug in style relay, so replacements can be quick and painless.

All the safety devices (high temp limit, flow control, high pressure cut off, etc.) should be supplied with a positive wire to one side of their Normally Open contacts, with the other contact connected to one of the relay coil terminals. The other contact on the relay coil control contact should be connected to ground or neutral (if a 110VAC relay is used) the relay's contacts (NC) should control the power feed to the burner/blower so if the safety's activate, the relay engages, and the connection to the burner is broken. any ONE of the safety devices should be able to energize the relay and disconnect the burner. Using this design, saves the relay coil from premature failure due to it being energized whenever the machine is powered up.

This type of an extra safety system can be added to any style hot/steam machine as an added extra layer of protection for your equipment.

Most Radio Shacks or electrical supply stores have the relays, and the PW equipment dealers have the safety devices. (just be sure that the LOAD rating for the relay is rated HIGHER than the amperage of your blower/burner motor)

I have also thought of putting the thermal high limit switch on the blower motor itself , which turns the suntec pump that pumps the diesel.. This would cut off the fuel flow and the pump if the machine got over 250 degrees..because the fan motor also turms the pump .. So how many amps could a 1/5 hp electric motor have ??? drawing out about 1.3 amps.. Now the transformer I dont think could be shut off by any of these , just the switch.

Do you have a burst disc on the coil?

Would some sort of switch to disconect the battery cut everything off? That would be scary for sure, I think I would have grabbed cable cutters and cut the battery cable.

I fixed it..

I have a 120volt burner so no cord cutting.. Anyway it was the solonoid had got trash in it an was not closing the fuel off .. So now its fixed.. Some how debris made it thru the solonoid valve and got hung up/ I got it working but I bought a new solonoid valve anyway .. Better safe than sorry.. Still working on that bank loan for a new machine and a few other things
I need to pay off

Why not go up on your prices about 3-5% this year and save that for a machine.
