It only took a week for my new Aqua Dapter to get here from the UK.
They now come with 2 extra springs but in all the yeaes I've used one I've only had one break.

What is it/ what does it do?
 
It's a on/off switch for water flow on a water fed pole. It attaches to the top or the pole and you hose fastens to it. Then with a tug on the hose you turn the water flow on and then tug again to turn it off.
 
You like that better than a switch/valve at the bottom of the pole where you just turn the switch or valve on or off?

You can rig up a switch or valve for a lot less money and be able to replace it many times for the same price or less than that device you ordered.

Just saying.

I like it loads more than a valve. For instance with a valve I have to hold it in my hand to make sure I don't have to walk back a few feet every time I have to shut off the flow. With pure water systems you don't want to just be wasteful with your water so the easier and quicker it is to turn on an off the flow the better. I've yet to find a better more efficient way to do it other than the Aqua Dapter. I still have the previous model and it's still working fine after about 3 years. I used to go thru valves every couple of months.
